A black guard alertly did his duty and reported the taped door. I heard he was later blacklisted and was out of a job. He should have received a medal and special pension. What happened to him?

Jack got it right. He is referencing what Woodward and Bernstein were called by colleagues as a team, as they explain in All The President's Men. "Their colleagues melded the two into in one and gleefully named their byline Woodstein."

P.S. I won't miss those call slips, having filled out hundreds of them...
