Maybe you "idiots" should realize that as some have already mentioned his father IS FRENCH CANADIAN, which makes him HALF French Canadian. Get your facts right before insulting the writer

Ricky Gervais is not French Canadian

Though I have never read from this website/heard of you, I am going to assume that I can safely conclude that there is nothing of value on this website for me to read if they are going to print nonsense like this

You can't dissemble xenophobia with spurious patriotism

It was unrelated to the show (the quotations around educational were unecessary and superfluous to your original argument)

Judging by your ample jowls, his portliness is nothing for you to be insulted by

Is this a Monty Python character writing for the usnwr? You have to work to be this nuts don't you?

He's joking! Its not especially funny, but its an attampt nonetheless.

Really? This is something you're upset about? Righteous indignation? Instead of telling people what the clip means, watch it for yourself. I can't tell if Farrell is tongue-in-cheek or not. "Cynical foreigner"? The guy is a COMEDIAN, what he says is funny because it's over the top, like most comedy.

How did this opinion every make it into print? Are there no editors at US News? It sounds more like Fox "News" entertainment network.

You're actually commenting on the witty exchange between a puppet and a comedian and claiming that it has some kind of detrimental effect on world affairs. Which one do you more closely associate with yourself, a puppet or a comedian. Let me guess.

Matt Clark of CA 2:27PM March 13, 2009

The article isn't half correct with regard to Gervais' nationality - it is 100% WRONG. The subject is Ricky Gervais, not his father (who is not even mentioned).

The British accent would have provided a clue for anyone who actually watched the clip, which makes me believe that Mr. Farrell didn't. I've watched the clip twice, I don't recall Gervais "pawing" Elmo. I just recall laughing quite a bit at something that will not be broadcast for children (not that they'd understand it, anyway).

No harm is being done with these outtakes. This is drivel, a way to fill up white space.

BTW, my 8-year-old loves Gervais - she's seen him in "Night at the Museum" and "Stardust," and thinks it is TOTALLY cool that he's going to be on "Sesame Street" (as does her mom).

JTaylor of GA 2:07PM March 13, 2009

Actually the article is half right...his father IS French-Canadian. And in the spirit of corrections, it would actually be "your research", not "you're research".

Sandy of NJ 1:11PM March 13, 2009

Gervais does not fit well on Sesame Street. BUT, if "outtakes" are the issue here, good grief. We should only be critics of what actually airs.

I would bet, for instance, that unprinted reporters' chatter at USNWR is not fit for children either. Would I be right?

Ricky Gervais is not French-Canadian you idiot. He is English!

Find another profession!
