I loved the cause and effect chain you sketched: Sermon on the Mount to Tolstoy, to Gandhi, to MLK, to election of Obama. I have had the first four links in that chain in my mind for a long time, and have connected the last two links (as has everyone). But I didn't see all of the links together until reading your piece.
