News of the World: Obama and McCain Are Both Evil Zombies

In the course of reading the New York Times this week, I came across an awesome story by Jim Rutenberg, about Andy Martin, the guy who is said to have inspired the longstanding "cyberwhisper" campaign against Barack Obama.

Martin is credited with "a history of scintillating if not always factual claims" and with triggering many of the rumors about Obama's faith and childhood with a silly 2004 press release.

The charges are easily disproved. But some people believe what they want to believe, and the search for better ratings is eternal.

Martin, perhaps not surprisingly, starred on Fox News last week, making more unchallenged claims about Obama's background.

And yet Martin, as Rutenberg reveals, is a guy who, in the old days, polite folks would have called a crank.

Martin "has left a trail of animosity—some of it provoked by anti-Jewish comments—among political leaders, lawyers and judges in three states," the Times reports. When preparing to run for Congress in Connecticut, his campaign committee listed as its goal as being "to exterminate Jew power."

His admittance to the Illinois state bar was "blocked in the 1970s after a psychiatric finding of 'moderately severe character defect manifested by well-documented ideation with a paranoid flavor and grandiose character,' " according to the newspaper.

Okay. This is America, land of the free. Everyone is entitled to his or her own conspiracy theory. If we're stupid enough to believe every E-mail or robocall we get, we deserve the dysfunctional government we've got.

Deep in Rutenberg's story, I spotted evidence for that.

It seems that Martin's Obama tales went truly viral in 2006, when a guy named Ted Sampley picked up his notion that Obama is some secret soldier for radical Islam and put it out there on the Net.

Now, I met Sampley many years ago when, as one of the purveyors of the myth of Vietnam POW-MIAs "left behind," he triggered a long-running series of attacks on no other than—John McCain.

McCain, who actually was a POW, thought it rather unseemly for Sampley and his like to exploit the pain and sorrow of the widows and children of dead American servicemen. McCain was a prime mover on a U.S. Senate Select Committee, comprised largely of Vietnam-era veterans from both parties, that put the myth to rest and promoted the cause of reconciliation.

In retaliation, Sampley has pushed the theory that McCain was brainwashed by the Vietnamese and is a "Manchurian candidate" who will lead us all to ruin if he reaches the Oval Office.

And so, in Sampley's special view of the world, both Obama and McCain are the zombie pawns of evil foreigners. The guy who goosed the spread of the scary whispers about Obama is the same guy who's been slandering McCain for years!

And that may be something to think about on Election Day, if you're tempted to vote against either of two fine men, based on what you've learned from a feverish E-mail or a sinister robotic phone call.

Basically, your story smears the reputation of a man, because he dared to ask questions about your god---Obama. You shake your finger at Martin for spreading stories about Obama, then you spread horrible stories about him! Why not practice what you preach?

I remember when the press investigated rumors. Now they are in the business of covering them up. I remember when the press was the fourth branch of government, and held all politicians accountable. Now you are propagandists for the Democrats, and especially Obama. We see in the Sarah Palin stories that you still know how to dig around in people's backgrounds. But, you refuse to find out Obamas. Refuse to demand proof of his assertions.

You know, you all called the charges of sex with an intern in the clinton White House, a "vsst right wing conspiracy" ....just a story by hate filled Republican hacks. Well, it was true, wasn't it? You would be wise not to dismiss the stories about Obama, or you may find yourselves with egg all over your faces. Again.

Okay, lets imagine John McCain doing the same things Obama has done, and having some of the same associations.

...what if:

He attended the “Westboro Baptist Church” for 20 years; But he never heard any hate filled speeches. He did hear some pretty outlandish stuff, but never the most horrible things.

When questioned on his association with WBC and Pastor Phelps, he stated that Pastor Phelps was his good friend, mentor who married him, and baptized his children...and that he could no more disown Pastor Phelps, than his Dark Skinned Daughter, who loves him, but even so, has used White/elderly epithets that made his skin crawl.

Then, we find out that McCain has been in an organization with, served on two boards with, was neighbors with Eric Rudolf. Then said, “well, I didn't know him when he set off those bombs; he was just a guy I know, and other people trusted him, so did I....”

Then, we find out that McCain was a member of the John Birch society when he first ran for office.

He had on his staff former Enron executives.

Children sing and March to songs about the great McCain!

David Duke calls him a ‘prophet of God’ and tells everyone to listen to him and follow him.

He is endorsed by Pat Buchanan, Slobadan Milosevic; Kim Jong IL; and Charles Taylor.

He attended a conference by Adriaan Vlok, who also tells anyone who will listen what a wonderful leader McCain is, and how he will fix the world.

Then, remember, McCain's father and grandfather were members in good standing of the KKK. His sister, and his brothers are still members...but despite some old documents to the contrary, McCain says he never was a member. We must believe him, take him at his word.

McCain did unfortunately make one small remark about people from New Orleans being “typical black folks, clinging to their welfare checks and unable to read them!” It was an “unfortunate choice of words”...

Joe isn't really a PLUMBER........and Joe doesn't really earn......what was it........oh yeah.....$250,000 a year (WOW, HOW LUCKY THAT IT JUST HAPPENED TO BE THE SAME AMOUNT SEN. Despite strenuous denials, the unavoidable truth of the matter is that our government has a long standing history of abandoning US servicemen who fall into enemy hands. Statements to the effect that,"all leads are thoroughly investigated" or, that the issue of POW/MIA's is of the "highest National priority" are demonstrably false and do not stand up given the weight of evidence to the contrary.

Outrage voiced by those who have participated in the charade not withstanding, evidence that US servicemen remained in captivity after Operation Home Coming (as well as WWII and the war in Korea)is both compelling and overwhelming.

Are we to accept that Treasury agent Syphrit was NOT called before the Committee on POW/MIA's because he had nothing to say?

Are we to believe that Philip Corso's testimony before that Committee was a fabrication?

One only has to consider the outrageous explanations put forth to explain inconvenient satellite imagery containing POW identity codes or, even more unbelievable, the revellation that all such codes (except for Air Force personnel) have been lost or, destroyed.

Rather than swallow such tripe, hook, line and sinker, Mr. Ferrell should spend some time doing RESEARCH.
