Where would we be if useful idiots weren't pushing all the socialist shinola. Bush DID NOT ban stem cell research. Deal with it. Obama is stopping domestic energy. Deal with it. Taxing anything ALWAYS makes it more expensive and scarce. Taxing American oil companies makes would only reduce the supply and raise the cost of American oil. Deal with it. Its a wonder you can figure out how to tie your shoes? Or is that Bush's fault too?

I am so sorry about your Dad suffering from Parkinson's disease. You have all your facts right. Head Start is a wonderful program for young children to get the education to prepare them for grade school. Why are republicans always after what is helping our children, our elderly, our poor and our middle class? America is a great nation. We have a fine President Obama who is a good and kind man who wants to defend the good programs in America while the GOP wants to slash the budget for the poor but give tax breaks and subsidies to the wealthy. They have it just backwards and it is not going to get them on the right side of God's concern for all his children.

I guess Democrats will never stop blaming Bush for everything they don't like, despite the fact that they "controlled" Congress long enough to spend us into the poor house....

Contrary to what the writer states, the Bush decision only stopped funding of new embryonic stem cll lines. Research could continue on existing lines.

Does not justify his position, based more on his association with Mr. Obama than with any actual knowledge of the science involved in this issue.

Considering basic costs of research such as stem cell investigation for brain diseases. Where else is the networking that funds scientists research most successfully except by our national government. It is these grants that produce hope for persons suffering from biological brain diseases which produces a pharmacology resulting in success. To play politics with Brain Cell research is so typical of our Congress. How much does one have to save when one's family member has an incurable brain disease? Why deny hope? We could have spent our entire savings, sold our home, living in poverty with all our income going to health care for our son who had schizophrenia. He died in his early thirties due to complications with his psychopharmacology. This is about people and it's sad that so many have to suffer when community based programs and Stem Cell research will save the government huge costs in the long run.

You expressed my thoughts very well in reaction to Pinelo's diatribe.

I feel for your Dad. My father in law had it and so does a good friend. Its a frustrating disease. Stem Cell research has yet to produce a miracle answer to any disease but thanks to limitation on embryonic STR we now know that embryonic stem cells from umbilical cords can and are being used for research. Also stem cells can be derived from adult cells. Let all hope that the research will produce new effective treatments for many diseases including parkinsons.

The military is big on the 6P's: Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance.

Ominiously missing from your diatribe and finger pointing is a sense of responsibility.

Your father, has a disheartening condition, I feel for anyone that suffers. BUT, don't add insult to injury. Your father had an entire career to save a portion of his wealth. Why do we save? Because we don't know what the future holds, life has no guarantees, and, as much as possible, we do everything in our power to unnecessarily burden others with our problems. It's called responsibility.

Furthermore, I would like to know exactly why you think it's government's responsibility to do for you and your father what you and your father should be doing for yourselves. Your premise is completely immoral. Who do you think funds government? Government is only able to have wealth because taxpayers give it to them. So your premise, government should pickup everyone's medical costs and help people hold on to their wealth is preposterous. In other words, take someone elses wealth so that you can hold on to your own.

Frankly, I am fed up (no pun intended) with political parties and their general inability to get anything worthwhile done for the American people.

When are they going to reform the tax system?

When are they going to cut government spending?

When are they going to make Social Security and Medicare financially viable?

When are they going to pass a health care law that actually reduces costs and doesn't bankrupt the country.

When are they going to realize the value of Stem Cell research?

All we get from political parties and political consultants and political strategists is finger pointing and disdain.

Congressmen and Senators, if you're not willing to solve problems, then get the Hell out of the way. You're not much use to us anyway.
