I never thought of the two as the same but now I can relate the two. Thanks for writing the article, even though you don't see it that way. O yeah, look up margerate Sanger...she started planned parenthood.

Abortion is not the same as racism. I think you are right...abortion I think by everyone's definition involves a choice of the mother. This is similar to the choice in being a homosexual and is different than how you were born. Abortion and homosexuality = choice. This should in no way be compared to being born into any race.

Ms. Erbe, you question whether abortion should be considered a human rights question. Are you blind? How is it NOT a human rights question? People have been charged with MURDER based on having driven drunk and having killed a fetus? How is this if the fetus is not human? The fetus has human DNA. Where does human DNA occur NATURALLY except in a human being? Is the fetus a peanut or a ham sandwich?

Abortion is the #1 cause of death to the African-American population. Over half of all African-American unborn children are killed/aborted before they ever see the light of day. The current black population in the US is around 36 million- they would have been well over 50 million if not for abortion which has exterminated 15 million black children. The black population has relinquished its position as the largest minority group in the US to the Hispanics, all because of abortion diminished numbers. If you do not think that the black race is being targeted by the racist eugenicists that run the US/global agenda you are living in a dream state. Abortion IS destroying African-American lives , power and culture- a true racist crime against humanity.

I COULDN'T AGREE MORE WITH DR. ALVEDA KING. ABORTION IS THE NEW SLAVERY.

IT DEHUMANIZES THE HUMAN PERSON. EITHER IT'S A LIFE OR IT'S NOT. IN WILLS

AND CONTRACTS THE UNBORN CHILD HAS RIGHTS. IT'S ONLY IN ABORTION THE

UNBORN CHILD HAS NOT RIGHTS. WHERE IS THE UNBORN CHILD'S LAWYER

MAKING SURE SHE HAS THE RIGHT TO LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PERSUIT OF

HAPPINESS.

Ms Erbe needs to read an unexpurgated life of Margaret Sanger in order to understand Alveda King's comment on racism.

Watch Maafa21 and as a reporter- dig thru the papers and libraries of Planned Parenthood for yourself and see what these film makers saw- RACISM ! http://www.maafa21.com

If I have an abortion and end a life, that is my choice, and it is legal. BUT if my husband kills me while I am pregnant he is charged with TWO counts of murder. How exactly do you explain that?? Murder is murder no matter WHO chooses to do it.

God Bless Alveda King and shelter her from hypocritical, hate filled, supporters of child murderers. And it is a civil rights issue. MOST abortion clinics are in poverty stricken BLACK communities. Planned Parenthood,in 14 states, were caught on tape accepting donations from a 'white' man asking that it be used ONLY for a black baby so his child has a better chance against Affirmative Action. And the person assured him it would be accepted and used to 'help' a black woman and ONLY a black woman. Racism at it's ugliest.LOOK IT UP!

You have the right to your opinion and she, hers. And you should NOT condemn her for doing exactly what you have done in your article. State YOUR opinion.

There's mine. God Bless the U.S.A.! I will pray for you, for God to open your eyes and soften your heart.

Bonnie, you're wrong in your comparison claims... Yes, abortion is not slavery:

In slavery, sometimes the person would live! -- OK the 3 reason's you're wrong:

1) ** LEGAL ** - It's against the law to kill, and objective biological definitions of life say the unborn baby is alive. (Besides the legal problems with murder, there are also Constitutional problems: Equal Protection (unequally protected), Due Process (little or none) , REDRESS (outright denied), rights to LIFE (hello?), liberty, pursuit of happiness, etc.

2) ** MORAL ** - I don't know what your religion is, but I'm a Christian, and 'true' Christians believe LUKE 1:41-44 which call the unborn child a BABY, not a 'blob of tissue'

3) ** PRACTICAL ** - You're alive because someone didn't abort you -- so, as a practical matter, abortion is something to be avoided -unless, of course, you're a hypocrite (abort *them* but not *me* -- LOL)

Gordon Wayne Watts of FL 10:10PM September 05, 2010

I believe that there a very few instances for abortion. I would include instances of rape or incest and when the mothers life is in danger and then the mother should be able to decide if she feels best to terminate the pregnancy. How can we stand up for human and animal rights and then not stand up for the rights of an unborn baby? Why would the rights of the baby only take effect immediately after birth? It is logical to protect the rights of an unborn baby if one truly believes in the most basic of human rights.
