Congressional Christian Hangout Should Not Be Tax-Exempt

Don't the Methodists have a similar tax exempt apartment complex behind the capital? I know a former speaker of the house lived in an apartment there. I don't know if they still have it, but they kept it's existence pretty quiet.

The Church has an obligation to provide a criteria for membership. Otherwise Catholicism would just be another "happy face" religion such as the one Muser promotes, "The Church of Wuz Happenin' Now", or one of its pro- abortion clones.

And say Muser, aren't you late for your meeting? Don't forget your white sheet and pointy hat.

Was it obama’s aunt that is here illegally. I felt normal due process should apply.

Same holds true for this church sleeping room. Without disagreeing evidence I guess is a sleep room situation. If true I see no harm for Congress member to be in a religious setting. Unless I missed it was not a luxurious room. Would think picture of gold plate sinks would definitely have photos to discredit if at all possible.

But I say let the IRS do their job and make their determination.

As far as Kennedy and perhaps the Speaker with the Pope, is well known the position against abortion. It was Kennedy who made the public announcement concerning refusal of communion. Not the church. Right ? Muser conclused the church is meddling into government at election time.

The Church did speak out against Health care bill with public paid abortion.

And, as for R.L. Schaefer's comment below that there are bigger scandals to worry about, yes, there are. The tax exemption of the Catholic Church in America should have been revoked a long time ago for the church's incessant meddling in politics. This business of making "news" (around election time) with highly publicized threats to deny communion to public politicians with whom the church disagrees is a practice for which the church should forfeit tax-exempt privileges.

The negative comments so far are pretty lame. Congressmen defrauding the IRS is always bad, and many Republican bible-thumpers have gone to prison over the years. It's not an attack on Christianity, it's an attack on those who parade and preen publicly while sinning privately. Statistically the Obama administration is cleaner than its predecessor, so changing the subject here doesn't work at all. Somebody needs to come up with a stronger objection than has been so far offered, and I'm betting against. I think she's right.

this one sounds pretty tame. I think there's bigger - a lot bigger - muck to rake.

R.L. Schaefer of CA 9:39PM February 24, 2010

this seems to be another attack on the christain faith since obama said we were not a christain nation any longer people think it's open season on us. Don't mistake meekness for weakness!!!!!!!!!!!!, why don't you try some real reporting and go after obama on all of his lies and back tracking or try telling the american people how the muslims are the only ones that are trying to bring our jets with 100's of people aboard down on our cities. you are nothing and the reason that newspapers are begging for a bailout yourself's because nobody is reading the propaganda that you spew...

Bonnie, If you were concerned about the members of the current administrations tax problems you would have a much better story.I suppose you realize how many members were not quite up to date on their taxes when picked for their positions? How about ole Charlie Rangel and his tax problems. Come on young lady. I would bet you could get a good story out of those leads and leave the Christians alone. Why not pick on the muslims and all that money they have sent across the ocean that is used to train folks to come over to this country and KILL YOU.
