Bonnie,
If you read about Joan of Arc, she actually died fighting for the Christian faith and the Church. It was not the Church as a whole that put her to death but a few rotten eggs. She is a Catholic, let me say again, a Catholic saint, my patron saint actually. If it were today and Joan of Arc were alive, she would be vehemently fighting against women like yourself who have eyes but cannot see and ears but cannot hear "The Truth". She was a REAL FEMINIST, in the true sense. She fought for true ideals. Today, she might have been another Mother Teresa. She would be fighting for freedom for ALL, including the lives of the unborn... she would be fighting for the poorest of the poor... she would be fighting for peace.... etc...
Joan of Arc is my greatest hero. She was not a wounded, cynical, and bitter woman. She fought for good and not evil. So please do not use her name when you are speaking negatively about Christ's Church. One of the greatest women that ever lived would not have it.

I want to ask you honestly, how arrogant are you? You speak of the Catholic Church as if it was the destroyer of reason but you have no idea what you are talking about. I am a true Roman Catholic and currently studying Theology for my undergraduate degree but I have also studied History, Art History, Philosophy, Science, Literature and the Classics so I think it is safe to say that I am educated. If you really were educated or bothered to research that which you were reporting on you would know that the Modern Day University originated in the monasteries of Europe. You would know that the reason that we have some of the most important ancient works of Philosophy was because monks spent hours transcribing them. You would know that the Catholic Schools are one of the most important educating institutions in our Great Country. But most importantly of all you would realize that reason, ethics, Divine Revelation, and every other revealer of truth tells you that the murder of unborn children in the womb is one of the greatest evils in our world today.
My professor today explained that when the basic concepts or truth, which are self-evident, are denied by the person you are trying to teach they cannot be taught anything else. If you deny that a sum is greater them its parts then I can no longer teach you anything about mathematics. And if you deny the self evident truths of life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness then I cannot teach you anything more about ethics and politics because your reason is fundamentally flawed.
The Church has a duty given to it by Christ to stand up against evil and that is why they must by their call stop abortion and because of that stop this bill. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend by standing against the church in its true crusade against the evil of abortion has made herself a heretic and may God have mercy on her soul.
I pray that you may open your eyes and see the light or true reason, but I truly fear that you have spent too much time in the dark. I know that God will forgive you for what you have done but only if you repent. I send you only the plea for reason and the blessings of Christ the Lord.
I hope for your sake you do not readily reject them.

You are dreaming and an idiot, Bonnie. Those politicians who call themselves Catholics are the worst kind of Catholics who use their political power to misguide voters by their selective knowledge of their Church's major principles. None of them (and there are far too many) should be allowed to call themselves Catholic and should probably not be receiving holy eucharist. The late Senator Ted Kennedy was perhaps the worst offender throughout his lifetime, and apparently Kathleen Kennedy Townsend caught the same disease. It's a sad commentary on a family that has consistantly been on the wrong side of the many of the Catholic Church's teachings and could have done so much more good if they had adhered to the core values of the Church.

Abortion is an act of violence, against the baby, and also against the woman having the baby. It is no wonder that doctors
graduating from med school, no longer are reguired to take the
hipocratic oath. In the old testament King David covered up his
act of adultery by murdering the husband of the woman. Today in our promiscuis society, abortion seems to be the same violent cover up. And of course after 37 years since Roe vs. Wade and 50 million abortions, you tell me that some how this is going to go unnoticed in the eyes of God. I'm telling you that none of us will be spared, because we all are guilty, directly or indierectly. Compare the history of the Civil War and abortion.
There was a disagreement on the guestion of freedom. Freedom in the constitution is second. What is first. Life. So now we have a disagreement about life. I can try to aproach some one who believes in abortion, but logic doesn't seem to work. The inalienable right to life will be answered, just as the question of freedom was. God help us all.

Hope of CT,
So on one hand and embryo has dignity for you (as with the case of your grandson), but on the other hand there is no dignity as you defend the barbaric act of countless other children in the womb being ripped apart or killed via chemicals. How odd a nation where we simultaneously have people paying money to help them conceive while others pay money to have their children killed. Then their is the indignity of the many embryos that will remain frozen forever, human life as another man's play thing. Indeed, "horrors", as we witness the arrogance of man thinking he can play "God" in a modern day recreation of Satan tempting Adam and Eve with promises that they can be like "God." "Horrors," is correct!
I realize that many find happiness with test tube children, but that does not make the practice right. Happiness and morality are two different measures.
