It's a cult, not a religion anyway !

You see people from other religions wearing and doing religious things, yet only muslim women should stop wearing their headscarf? i think it's a beautiful concept, because it protects a woman's beauty and dignity in a society that's full of immodesty. it liberates them from the standards and expectations of other people, and leaves them free to commit themselves to being pure, truthful, kind, and peaceful. if everyone was like this, there would be no war or hatred at all in the world! please consider this before making a decision about muslims. islam is only about purity, faith, and submission, and it is unfairly ridiculed and made to look bad by the media and people against it.

According to the first amendment people have a right to freely practice their religion. That includes religious attire. It is true that not all Muslim women wear the scarf, however not every Christian goes to church either. It is a choice that many Muslim women make because according to the Islamic faith women are REQUIRED to wear the scarf, but as I've already stated, not all Muslim woman are religious. Going back to the first amendment under the American Constitution everyone has a right to freely practice their religion and that includes religious attire. According to the American Constitution, a courtroom judge has no legal right to ask a Muslim woman to remove her scarf for any reason. For all of you who are talking about American customs and culture, there is no prototype of American Culture. This country is very diverse and yet most of us are ignorant to the laws of our own country. The bottom line is, any law or policy that contradicts a Constitutional Amendment, even though it may be written into state law cannot "legally" be enforced. For example, even if the DMV stated that no head coverings were permitted in a driver's license photo, that policy couldn't be legally enforced because it is a violation of the American Constitution. This is America, these are the laws. People are fighting for the rights that America gives them. We are have a right to freely express our thoughts and opinions because it is in the American Constitution. Don't forget that this country was founded by immigrants. Many of the first immigrants were those who came to America to escape religious persecution. It doesn't matter what policies a place may have, if it contradicts the American Constitution, it cannot be "legally" enforced. For the person who stated that only cancer patients should be permitted to wear a head covering to in a courtroom because they suffer from enough indignity, should be aware of the fact that asking a Muslim woman who does wear the head scarf to take it off, is like asking a woman to strip naked on national television. As far as a woman taking a picture with a facial covering, it is reasonable to expect her to take it off only because according to Islamic faith, the facial covering is not a requirement, it is optional and even in Saudi Arabia where the facial veil is a requirement in many areas, woman are required to remove the veil for photo identification. For those of you who are ignorant to the laws that govern our great society, please keep in mind that while you state that a group of people should be denied a right because it doesn't fit in with "mainstream society" and follow the "American" way of life, you are contradicting the laws and rights that our soldiers fought and died for.
