Letting Gun Nuts Pack Weapons Near Obama Is Insane

Watching CNN between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Monday, I was treated to the sight of a young man with an automatic weapon strapped to his back across the street from a presidential rally in Arizona. This is not the first time armed persons have appeared outside a building where the president is making an appearance.

This is a horrifying and, quite frankly, ridiculous development. It is perfectly legal, according to the CNN anchor I watched, for Arizonans to parade in public with all manner of weapons, including semiautomatic mass killing machines.

Such public policy is tantamount to allowing children to play with live hand grenades. Disaster is certain. If a president is not assassinated, then certainly protesters are in much greater danger, as are members of the public who simply happen to be passing by.

Considering the:

A. level of mental illness in this country (and in all human populations for that matter),

B. fact that we are in the midst of a deep recession, and

C. outrageous levels of public anger displayed by some talk radio hosts and cable talk show hosts ...

we are asking for people to be maimed or killed by allowing this type of behavior to continue.

Mary's Comment - 'Good God, it's not the Ole West anymore. Grow up you guys (and gals)who think it is. Of course the IQ level here is low. Time for me to leave.'

My observation - Here's yer hat, what's your hurry?

Oh, I see what your hurry is - You want to raise the IQ level of AZ by leaving. Go. Please.

Unfortunately, it is not the 'Ole West' anymore. They had a lower crime rate than the 'enlightened' coastal cities of today. Wonder why?

Are you certain he was carrying an automatic weapon? That is not likely. If you're referring to the black man that was plastered all over CNN, then it was not an automatic weapon.

Be careful of what rights you attempt to take away. There is currently a bill that would allow the Annoited One to shutdown private computer networks - talk about jeopardy of freedom of speech! Of course, they say that it's only in the event of virus emergencies. But once the power has been given, how long is it before it is abused? Any high ranking government official that will fire the CEO of a PUBLIC company has already shown complete disregard for the constitution and is more than willing to overstep whatever bounds necessary in order to inflict his will on an unwilling people.
