Bruce, you're so typical of a "guilty" male in my opinion! It's always the guilty one angry about an issue being addressed that may "in your mind" NOT include you! You're of the selfish brood!! The statistics ARE what they are regarding domestic violence!!! If men were'nt too damn prideful to report abuse, the numbers might be bigger just AS the women who DON'T report due to their lives being threatened! THE POINT OF THE MATTER ISSSS.....women with children have a huggggeeee disadvantage in the work force and SURVIVAL!!! Get over yourself! and do your job as MAN and argue about something you know about!!!!!

when has the government ever produced anything??? this is a rediculous post and these issues should be held on the local level...what is she going to do, sit around all day and think of spousal abuse???? Oh, what about when a woman abuses her husband??? Does that come in to play also? IMPEACH OBAMA AND GET ALL LIBERALS OUT IN NOVEMBER

Nikki of MO and Good Cause, the issue is not whether or not this is a worthy cause (and I agree that it is worthy). It is that we are abdicating control of our government and the expenditure of US Taxpayer dollars to people who have not been vetted or reviewed by Congress. The majority of the so-called czars are driven by questionable agendas and have questionable backgrounds.

I commend the appointment. I cannot believe there is such a negative blog on such a serious issue! I really have high hopes for this administration producing much need policies and activism for domestic violence. I applaud the administration for the steps they have taken including the appointment of a White House Domestic Violence Advisor. Biden was the founding father for the violence against women act so it makes complete sense that Obama would leave the announcement up to Biden. You should probably research these things before you make such an outlandish blog.

Whatever your views on Obama, leave his appointment of someone to deal with sexual assault and domestic violence ALONE! The fact that a president is taking an interest in an issue that effects 1 in 4 women in commendable. I work in victim services and help these women on a daily basis. So, grip and moan and complain about whatever you want to about him, his policies, or his administration but please out of respect for the victims and those who die at the hand of their abusers ... GET OFFF HIS BACK when it comes to dv awareness! As a woman I would think you would be more sympathetic to this cause ... would you have still written this blog if he had appointed a czar for breast cancer research?!

The difference between Bush and Obama's czars though is that Obama's have more power. Usually czars are put into positions with limited power but Obama has been leaving them in charge of major issues and since they don't have to go through Congress for anything they pretty much have free reign. Which since they report to Obama that means that he has more power as well. The congress knows nothing about what these czars are doing and many of Congress have admitted that they are very concerned.

Obama has less 'czars' than Bush did (Obama's 31 to Bush's 35), yet somehow this was never a problem during the Bush administration.

If we want to get rid of these positions, how about we start with the "Abstinence Czar", a ridiculous position created by Bush. Or even the Drug czar, a position created by Richard Nixon. The "War on Drugs" is an obvious failure, so lets just dissolve that position.

The noise about this issue coming now can only be seen as hypocritical, cynical political posturing. Instead of nonsensical attempts to harm our President, how about our elected leaders, the national media, and the electorate turn their attention to real issues that can actually *help* the American people.
