She is just stating her opinion. IF it is offensive to you than say it, but calm down Kay, she is pointing fingers just as you are are calling her a "SELFISH #@#$%$%". I don't necessarily agree with her, population in general does contribute to the destruction of our environment, but who has the ability to vote? Legal immigrants. It is US citizens responsibility to protect the environment, not 'illegals' who for the most part are simply trying to support their families.

This is an example of the right using the environment to put a wedge between two connected movements; environmentalism and social justice. It has been happening for some time and is covertly racist/nationalistic and obscures the far greater source of both inequality and ecological degradation. Garret Hardin's "Lifeboat Ethics: The Case Against Helping the Poor" and "Tragedy of the Commons" provides ideological and argumentative origins for the argument that Erbe uses. Google these articles, you don't have to change your opinion, but should at least be transparent about it, not pretend like these ideas are your own or ignore the ideological implications of your position.

Lets all convince them to go home. Quit hiring them, do rent to them, contact your government and encourage more laws to make it harder for them to stay.

As with most things there are both costs and benefits to massive immigration. Unfortunately they aren't equally shared by all Americans. There was a certain Chicago Sun-Times columnist who used to irk me with his comments about illegals: "We are all children of God ... Just trying to support their families ... Decent people in difficulties.. "

Possibly true. But the columnist in question, while no doubt sincere, didn't have to worry about illegal immigrants using his farmland as a highway to the north. His local hospital wasn't going to shut down for lack of adequate funding. The children in his family weren't going to schools overwhelmed with the difficulties of educating non-English speaking children. He wasn't going to lose his construction job to illegal laborers.

His personal share of the immigration situation was cheap food on his table, lower housing costs and a cozy sense of moral superiority. All gain, no pain from his perspective.

We need many millions more in population so we can stop hearing that we have only 5% of the world's population, but use 25% of the world's resources. This statistic neglects that the US produces 20 to 25% of the world's economic activity. It also probably neglects the resources the US produces and the resources the US helped other nations to develop.

We get almost no value for taxes spent to catch and punish illegal immigrants. The problem is that most of them come from Ban=Abortion nations like Mexico, the Phillipines, Guam and other places where Catholics are the biggest part of the population and where civil law still enforces that part of the Code of Canon law that says abortion and suicide are crimes. The church says they're "crimes" because they mean one less person who pays ten per cent tithe to clerics. Many illegals come from Islamic nations where clerics like the fact that four wives at a time can produce lots of tithers. People reading my comments know I emphasize the huge cash value of the tithe, but it cannot be ignored. There was excellent news in 2008 when Mexico City LEGALIZED ABORTION. This not a state problem because people move--it's in the area of federal jurisdiction. Local police must be authorized to find and arrest illegals. Bounties are paid to find other crooks--why not illegal immigrants? A friend worked in a distribution center. She said it was easy to spot illegals because most speak little or no English. Raids on big warehouses for forklift operators and stockers can pay off.
