Just one or two simple question. Why is it that when a white male makes any kind of comment that is the least bit racist he is crucified by the media, yet when a person of color makes a similiar racist comment then it is dismissed as something they did not really mean?

Can any one tell me the racial breakdown of "hate" crimes across the nation on a state by state basis?

On a federal basis?

Racism should be wrong regardless of politics, race, or any other standards.

"Why do democrats continue to raise the issue of race?? Of gender?"

Even though I am a liberal, the way Sotomayor has handled herself has not inspired the greatest confidence in me. Her and Obama's dialogue on race has been sappy, at best.

Still, it's conservatives who are trying to paint her as a racist using one quote from 8 years ago, and it's conservatives who are grousing about affirmative action whenever someone who isn't white and male catches a break (good thing that doesn't apply to Jindal, Steele, and Palin, eh?) If you want race and gender to leave the discussion, stop bringing them up in an attempt to scare the white male portion of your base.

Sotomayor is the best we can hope for from this administration. I agree, Republicans shut up and swallow it, or you can bet B.O's next pic is really gonna tick you off.

I salute you, Mr. Sosa, for being an American! Those who have bought into the Democrat crapola of divvying all of us into our separate groups, NEED to ask themselves WHY! IT is racist to vote for anyone for anything other than their ability and qualifications!! Why do democrats continue to raise the issue of race?? Of gender? Thank you again Mr. Sosa, and I hope for the sake of our country, more brave minorities who believe in this country will speak up. We need them desperately to join the conversation! (Does being 1/4 Hispanic blood count?)

As a Hispanic, I ask both Democrats and Republicans to reject Sotomayor because she is biased, sexist and racist. What’s worst, she does not seem to have much regard for the U.S. Constitution and the principle of separation of powers. She said that judges make policy. Doesn’t she know that it’s the Legislative branch that sets policy? Is she going to advocate changing the Constitution? By changing their constitutions, Hugo Chavez, Morales, Rafael Correa and the rest of the “socialists of the XXI century” in Latin America have become dictators and are destroying their countries and enslaving their people. We in the U.S. believe in Government of laws, not in Government of men! Governments of men are dictatorships! We deserve a knowledgeable, honest, non-partisan American – of whatever color or gender -- as Supreme Court judge! Sotomayor is NOT such an American.
