I just had the best belly laugh I had in a while-Royal brown of FL suggested a recount! Imagine a recount suggested by someone from FL!!!!! 2000 presidential race anyone???

Originally Franken won, it just took a while to figure it out. There's nothing to settle. Franken got more votes on election night and that hasn't changed. I thought democracy was ab out counting the votes. Why do some people want to change the rules now? The legal votes have been counted, the results are in, and Franken won. There's nothing to settle.

Franken got more votes. In America the rules are simple. Who gets the most votes wins. We had one flawed presidential election decided by the courts when all the glitches in the election process had not yet been ironed out. Look where it got us.

As far as I can tell, the Minnesota process is as clean & thorough as any state in the union. The votes have been counted, re-counted, & massaged as never before. It's time Republicans began to try being Americans, & move the nation ahead.

A quarter-century of unrestricted greed proved the failure of the false ideology of neo-conservatism. A quarter-century of Reaganomics: a) cut taxes, b) increase spending, c) borrow to make up the shortfall put the nation into debt we haven's seen since the end of World War II. We're in trouble but the apostles of greed are still trying to control us. It's time to move ahead.

They should tack onto the back of Al Franken's senate term every day lost since Jan 6 he had lost due to this trial. That would get his republican backers to back off, pronto.

You could hold a quiz show on Minnesota history and trivia to see who gets the seat. Of course it may be a bit unfair to a carpet bagger like Normie.

Then again you could give them a general intelligence test. Then again, Norm might be at a disadvantage to the Harvard-educated Franken.

Maybe you could having a writing contest, to see who will win. But I guess that is not fair to Norman, since Franken is a Grammy Award-winning writer.

How about this: you let the voters decide. Just count the votes.

Oh, wait, that is what you have been doing. Maybe that's not right.

I know, go to the Supreme Court of the United States and have them decide. After all, look how well it worked for us with Gore v. Bush.

Okay, enough is enough. It's time for Coleman to realize he has lost and to bow out gracefully. Minnesota deserves to have two senators representing them. Franken is the winner. Let's move on.

Don't write fluff articles teniously connected to famous works. There is no satire at work here. It more likely appears you feel your suggestion appropriate, if only in jest, which is by no means similar to "A Modest Proposal".

Worth noting is that your unnecissary use of French is also incorrect, and should be "n'est-ce pas" not "n'est pas".

You've taken your mediocre key lime offering and garnished it with a sprig of rosemary and dollop of caviar.

Probably the most pretentious "mailing it in" I have ever seen.

I see Schaefer from California still hasn't realized that the GOP LOST the last election. The majority is supposed to rule in this country unless of course you're a sore loser Republican who will do anything to win including breaking into an opponents campaign head quarters or having someone murdered. Coleman lost fair and square which means regardless of what you think of Franken he won fair and square and don't forget the GOP for the last 8 years screamed bloody murder when the DEMS used the filibuster rule because the GOP said the majority rules and now the shoe is on the other foot and they're crying in their beer like children who lost a game of sandlot stick ball. Poor babies, the tide will turn eventually and we'll have those crack head Republicans back in office starting illegal wars and giving our economic souls to the Chinese.

These people can read and write and they think Al Franken should be a U.S. Senator - Must be "crazy gas" in the air in Minnesota... Wait a minute. Harry Reid is from Nevada and Pelosi from Ca. I'm gettin' worried... crazy gas must be drifting everywhere.

R.L. Schaefer of CA 2:21PM April 14, 2009

Ron Coleman spent years in the senate and looked the other was as He, the Republican senate, Republican congress & Republican president violated and revoked our constitution and rights over and over again. Shame on Mr. Coleman for only looking to the constitution when he LOSES an election. Please write to the sore loser and tell him he LOST and to go home and GET OVER IT.
