Let's see...Obama's stimulus has been in effect for, let us see, I believe less than a month now. Obama himself has only been inaugurated for a month and a half, and yet, lo and behold, the recession is stopping.

Ms. Erbe, I would like to, respectfully, urge you to find a new line of work. Perhaps a job that has some contribution to society besides non-sensical rants and liberal bull. Here, I even have a few examples for you: short order chef, salesperson, waitress...well, basically anything that doesn't involve writing insipid opinion pieces.

This hasn't even started yet and this is all Milton's Friedman's Chicago School free-market economics from stage one. This is Greenspan, this is pure capitalism and it's monstrous offspring, eating itself.

So blame Jimmy Carter if you like, dum-dums; this is basic Reaganite Voodoo Economics

(who said that? George H W Bush, that's who).

And it's not over; the only thing that's over is the entire history of 20th century US free-market capitalism. DEAD. DISCREDITED.

And you aint seen nuthin yet.

"President Obama is certainly not responsible for this economic mess—-it was handed to him by his predecessor."

You couldn't be more wrong.

The housing collapse was handed to us all by Jimmy Carter and Tip Oneil, via the Community Reinvestment Act. It created Freddie and Fannie in a failed attempt to give houses to people who couldn't afford them.

The wars people speak of were handed to us by Al Queada and Sadaam Husein. Had Bin Ladin not tried to bully Bush the way he did Clinton, we wouldn't be in Afghanistan. And had Husein followed the UN General Resolutions regarding weapons, we wouldn't be in Iraq.

Regarding the 'recovery' you imagine, that's not going to happen until the Federal Gov't admits it has no clue on how to fix a free market system they screwed up.

Just say NO to socialism, and let's take our lumps and let capitalism pull us out of this mess the right way: We Earn It!

Dorfy:

What you fail to understand is that, when it comes to the economy, the perception is usually the reality. At this point, the percentage of people actually affected by this economy is relatively low... most of us still have our same salary, our same house, our same mortgage payment, etc. But we have stopped spending because of all the fear that is being perpetuated. A lot of this is by the media, but it is also by Obama and his staff. This decrease in spending has sent a wave through the economy that has created a self-fulfilling prophecy. Though I did not vote for Obama, I am cheering for him, and think he is a very bright man. However, what he has done is unforgivable. He has banged the drums of despair for one reason and one reason only: to get his bill passed. That is not the politics of change... that is the same thing that's been happening for years and years. What happened to the "Hope" message?

I truly believe Obama came into this office believing all of his rhetoric... I just don't think it's realistic to change anything in Washington.

A note about the blog posting: it's unfair, even to "W", to say that Obama inherited this mess from President Bush. The alpha that generated most of this is the housing bubble, and the undervalued mortgages that are on the banks balance sheets. Which party demanded that the banks start lowering the lending criteria? The Democrats. Which Congressman pushed and pushed on Freddie and Fannie to get loans out there to people that really shouldn't have had them? Barney Frank.

Obamanation! Obama and Jesus have the same amount of letters, coincidence? I think not.

No way were they gaffes. Obama has told the truth. Maybe the public can't handle it after so many years of fluff and cover-up from Bush. Is the truth now unforgivable?

The market is where it should be - with several of our largest banks almost insolvent, our auto industry near collapse, the budget deficit swollen, two wars, and a worldwide recession. No amount of talking points should keep the DJI higher than its real value. Do you honestly think the business climate is stronger thasn in 1997, and thus the DJI should be higher than then? Not hardly.

Too much happy talk during the past years led the public to falsely believe there would always be more money out there, more jobs, more stereos to buy, more gadgets, blah blah.

It is our duty to sit down, understand where we are, how we got there, and organize things so it doesn't happen again. It is not a partisan issue. It is serious, and should be addressed as such.

If we want to be a world leader, then we have to grow up, eat our vegetables, and deal with realities. Obama has been right on so many levels. Get your teddy bear if you are uncomfortable.
