What can you expect, he was a "community organiser" and "junior" senator. He also has the foreign national tag that may stick sooner of later.

It seems unfair to judge Obama because they are so many unsavory people in Washington. He can't be held responsible for other poeple's action. He's not the one who didn't pay his tax. He's probably having so much trouble finding a qualified person without some flaw, because the people in government are mostly dishonest and lack intergrity in their day to day life. That's exemplified by the fact that our country is in the tank because of greedy wall street types and businessmen. They are not interested in the common good(especially of the less

fortunate). They have their own self interest which is driven by greed. Everyone talks about government spending. Well the money there are spending is the tax payers money ,and should be spent for the benefit of the taxpayers. They bark at spending money for education as an example, but would rather give money instead to rich fat cats who lie and cheat and hoard as much as they can for their own benefit.People who, in spite of a good salary, give themselves million of dollars in bonuses while laying of thousands of workers. At least Obama is trying to help people that are desperately in need ,and is not passing legislature to line the pocket of lieing crooks. They talk about Daschle, but I bet they are many more people in congress other than him that don't pay taxes that are not so easily detected (taxes on cars and drivers, medicare and social security ). Taxes whose matching earnings are not properly reported to the government. It's no wonder then that Obama can't find an honest candidate for his cabinet!

Yeah, right -- if you elect someone who is virtually inexperienced -- what do you expect?

President Obama is a great President and one who is highly ethical and honest. He did his upmost best to add more Repubs to his administration and reach across the isle as he had promised. The man has only been in office for (3) weeks, and has been dealing with the Titanic Mess he inherited from the Bush Administration. He is the Only President who has set the ethics bar this high. He's honest and humble; and is in the process of formulating strong measures for transparency. We finally have a president who is for the people. A far, far cry from the disatorous (8) years of the Bush administration and Republican rule. I recall several appointees by the Bush administration was like a revolving door. The fact that Judd sought the Commerce Secretary position from the Obama Administration in the first place, displays Judd's Poor Judgement.

I Agree with Muser of NM, "STOP THE UNNECESSARY TRASHING"!

How does a confused Gregg imply that President Obama has little experience? From what I have read from your article, you seem to be a reporter that has all the answers. Wonder why you did not campaign and run for the job. It has been less than 60 days since his inauguration and everyone in this world has free will to do what he or she wants, even Gregg. You also list former President Bush failures with his cabinet picks, but in no way do you mention the criminal acts he instigated with the war in Iraq, or the torture trials. Shame…. where is your sense of fairness. Oh yeah, you lack that trait.

Give us a break on writing your condescending tone and words. He is the President and at last, the White House is filled with someone human.

Sorry, Ms Erbe. I'm not buying your idea that President Obama's three weeks in office show a crippling lack of experience. I read it as a very real push for change in how this country works...and the pushback of those who are used to operating in a vindictive and polarized manner (both Democrats such as Speaker Pelosi and the Republicans who worked on Sen Gregg until he withdrew his name for Commerce) as well as the blindness of the political class and its sense of entitlement (what was more troubling about Sen Daschle was not his tax problems--but his utter blindness to the "revolving door" corruption inherent in his making some $5 million since he left office based on his name and influence).

President Obama is also willing to speak openly about things. This is taken by the chatterati (of which you, Ms Erbe, seem to be a member) as horrifying. "A President can't say that!" Are you meaning to say that even if something is true a President can't treat citizens as adults and speak truth to us? That would imply this experiment in democracy is ultimately doomed to fail, because the citizens ultimately can't be trusted with the truth.

We're in week four now of changing the culture in Washington, all in the midst of two wars and an ongoing economic recession. It's a tough job, but I for one (as a lifelong conservative who never voted for a Democrat for President in my life before 2008) think our President is doing well so far. Less time sniping and second guessing, Ms Erbe...and more time helping to actually solve the problems we're facing please!

try to run for President and let's see if you won't face simple challenges like that...the good thing about it, they are all minor and expected...

Conservatives are watching on the sidelines and waiting for Obama to make little mistakes and then, attack...and then start talking as if they would have done better...

Dan of CA 2:29PM February 14, 2009

Well, I do agree with you on one point. While I do dislike Obama immensely, I imagine having you or many of his other naive supporters in charge instead would be much worse.

T.N. of D.C.: Plenty of so called "journalists" take President Obama roundly to task every day, and hundreds of idiots flood the blogosphere with garbage about his birth certificate, his criminal connections and on and on. I believe he has been MORE closely scrutinized, analyzed and criticised than any candidate in recent memory; and the right wingers did a pretty fair hatchet job on Al Gore AND John Kerry. They simply cannot STAND to see Democrats remotely happy, but want to spread misery forever, like the Grinch Who Stole Christmas.

Regardless of Chicago politics (which, by the way is no worse than Louisiana, Texas, Arizona or lots of other places) I think Obama has high ideals and the desire to reach out to his detractors. He is a lot more generous of heart than I would be.
