Obama, the GOP, and the Myth of Post-Partisanship

Obama offered no compromise, nothing to allow these "Red State" Republicans to be able to get on board and tell the people back home that the good stuff that would help the economy outweighed the bad stuff that was fluff because it was mostly all 'fluff" and is a bad bill. If this is Obama's idea of 'bipartisanship', then he has no one else to blame in 2 years when people are still unhappy with the way things are done in Washington.

Printing money and creating "make-work" jobs was a good idea - then why not skip worrying about the economy and just keep printing money forever? This sort of "air-head economics" is what got us into this mess - don't think it's gonna fix it.

By the way Bonnie, this is "package" supposed to save our economy not provide low income women condoms.

Republicans should treat Obama the way Democrats treated Bush?

Republican leadership is woefully lacking. All Americans are suffering in some way from this economic downturn. Americans are looking for help. Now is not the time for the GOP leadership to focus on it's inane ideology. The GOP could possibly be looking at a long haul as the minority party.

Obama seems to be approaching certain issues with an idea to compromise in order for both parties to come to an agreement. If the GOP is not going to embrace any compromises, Obama's approach unfortunately may not be effective.

Someone has correctly pointed out that a greater percentage of Republicans remaining in Congress are "hard right" who have very safe seats in very "red" districts. They would be punished at home only for NOT opposing all things liberal or Obama-like.

There is no sense for Dems to be giving away the store (compromising pieces of the liberal/progressive agenda) to these guys/gals in the name of either "post" or "bi" partisanship. They are going to react badly to Obama NO MATTER WHAT. Barack is a quick study and will soon come to know this.
