Until the Democrats fess up to who really caused this issue, the ignorant Bush bashers will continue to make crazy statements as you see posted here. Bush tried to fix things twice but was blocked by Democrats. Here's on of the attemps:

“These two entities - Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac - are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” said Representative Barney Frank of Massachusetts, the ranking Democrat on the Financial Services Committee.

Nice job Democrats, well done, you just doomed this country for years to come.

And..unnecessary war? You can't be serious. No, really, you must be joking. You..know who Saddam Hussein was, right?

I have completely removed my head from the sand, and I am kicking myself for ever voting for Bush.

Anyone who DOESN'T know that Bush is completely responsible for this, has the same gift of self deception that Bush has. The Mortgage mess is a convenient scapegoat, but it didn't create this $10T mess, Bush did. The markets haven't been regulated for years, and the mortgage crisis just ignited a flammable situation.

You can't have record deficits for years, move jobs overseas with abandon, sell our docks to Arab countries, stifle scientific innovation, and then blame it on the bogeyman.

The sooner you people get your heads out of the sane, the better.

You'll start winning some elections.

Anyone who truly believes Georgie is not responsible for the economic meltdown must have one of his Daddy bought Harvard degrees along with his Daddy bought non-military career!!! Yes, the economy is a life-cycle project and like the federal budget it is influenced by all administrations but the wholesale deregulation and hands-off governing of Georgie's reign of terror elevated incompetent governing to new levels. He had a Republican Congress during his first years in office dismantling years of legislation resulting in our current meltdown. A typical example was his cutting of the veterans budget & benefits BEFORE the war resulting in the wounded living in squallor in the VA hospitals, delayed disability compensation, putrid conditions in VA facillities, etc...as a 100% disabled vet myself, I personally witnessed the wrath of Georgie upon our veterans. Please don't pull the old Republican as long as I have my cut bullstuff, fancy tapdancing won't cover this bull!!!

If Georgie has become so concerned about the mess he has created, then why is he continuing his plunder by daily creating more issues with which Obama must contend upon taking office. He is injecting more catch phrases for Obama to purge out of his signing atatements, executive orders, legislation, etc... which is why Obama has comitted part of the transition team simply to review the damage Georgie continues so it can be reversed after inauguration day. This is simply more Georgie speak trying to create a legacy out of a pile of dung!!!

The statement of Bush being at large responsible is a fairly ignorant comment. This assumes that the American people are in many ways not responsible for their own lives, and that they are wholly reliant on the government, which is not true. People are responsible. I would suggest elaborating on how you derived to that conclusion and how others do not share that responsibility.

Bonnie, whenever I read your column the word "vacuous" comes to mind.

Do you really believe that Bush was the sole cause of this mess? Every Dem in the congress and senate was pushing for low interest loans for those who couldn't afford them. Wall Street and bankers had their greedy paws in the pie - Economic gurus and Realtors all screamed the drunken party was never gonna end and the people just stuck their heads in the trough up to their ears...Heck, the whole world followed the Pied Pipers right over the cliff.

Is your bulb so dimmed by hate that you can't see that there's enough blame to be shared by all?

The credit melt-down was caused more by Democratic-sponsored easy money mortgage requirements, in a mistaken effort to make owning a house "more affordable", than it was by the last 8 years of a Republican administration. That's what led to the demise of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae. Blaming everything on Bush is convenient but incorrect.
