Is Jon Favreau for Real?

Thanks for your comment Bernard, but surely your liberal use of the word "liberal" almost as an epithet qualifies you as closet liberal? I say that in jest!

Seriously though, I take issue with your implication that that an immigrant cannot be a "super patriotic" There are many immigrants who served and died in Iraq. I personally know of at least one immigrant GI who did not even have a "green card" when he was killed serving in Iraq. So, really not many people in the know about these things, think that immigrants cannot be patriotic. I am one of those who doesn't think it is patriotic to borrow money from China to pay for our wars, which is what we did in the last eight years. As for Mrs Pelosi's liberal bent of mind which seems to so excite you as a physician, I happen to think that after the eight years of right-wing politicking Washington DC, we are due for a dose of liberal correction. To just take one issue, George W came into office vowing tort law reform. Many physician groups supported him enthusiastically. Naivity? You bet! George W had majorities in the House as well as the Senate. But ultimately he turned out to be the typical cynical politician that everyone in DC and today the physicians areno better off than when he came into office. Once again thanks for your comments!

Neil, most likely my standard of a military hero for a super patriot was way too high. But the recent standard of a "very, very patriotic" person by liberal Nancy Pelosi was way off the mark if not shameful:

The speaker, condemning raids by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, referred to the immigrants (both legal and illegal) she was addressing as "very, very patriotic."

You are special people. You're here on a Saturday night to take responsibility for our country's future. That makes you very, very patriotic."

Anyhow, much thanks to the stirring rhetoric of Jon Favreau, Obama won the game. And winning the game is all that counts.

But, really, stirring rhetoric created in Starbucks and then insulting Obama's Secretary of State as a victory celebration is more than I can respect?

My issue is that Favreau is about all brilliant and meticulous rhetoric (the Holy Cross valedictorian gets an A in essay writing, done while sucking on his coffee at Starbucks) but without substance, heart, spirit, and honesty. "Change we can believe in." And the poor disenfranchised blacks in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, etc. believe this and vote for a black only to get the words and thoughts of a young, privileged white? Aren't there any talented black speech writers available? Better to have Obama's pastor do the speech writing. At least he is spirited and honest and forthright and not a mocker of our current Secretary of State.

Regarding comments like that my Bernard Marvic of TX (Feb 10): his words give an insight into his mind about the anger and hate he has in his heart for certain groups of people than say anything about Mr. Favreau. Come on Mr. Marvic, it is your comments that are pathetic. If being a "Military Hero" is your litmus test for being "Super Patriotic" then you are all the more of a sad figure. You'd better get rid of all that anger in your heart.

Neil of PA 7:41PM March 16, 2009

Get a life. Favreau is clearly a brilliant speech-writer, and this is clearly a sophomorish stunt. Maybe more like jr. high school. Other than he needs to get a clue about being photograped doing things like this, it ain't no big thang.

Pleaase show all the U.S. what a silly little boy Obama's speechwriter really is. A real nobody (no military hero for sure) is Obama's "Super Patriotic Speechwriter". And the blacks suck up the speeches by a whitey, upper middle class, another pro-abortion Catholic yuppie. Very pathetic.

Why people spend the time to analyze meaningless meaningless specks of dust, even to the extent of commenting that a gifted someone should be fired, just demonstrates

what a social train wreak this country has had.

It looks as though its just a young man having a bit of fun. Truely unfortunate were watching considering his position, but we've seen and put up with worse... get over it!

I bet Hilary even thinks it's funny. If I were her age and looked like her, I'd feel flattered to have a hunky young stud grope me even if it were a cut out. Lighten up people. This is just a guy blowing off some steam and keeping his sense of humor.

Hey Bonnie,

This is a "p.s." for you and all of the would be "purist" media, who almost single handedly elected Obama..

"GET OVER IT"

It's amazing how anytime someone does anything , you in the media feel you have the right to "judge", not report the facts and allow people to make up their own minds,,,, you feel you have to right to impose your idea of truth on everyone else.
