The Obama Cabinet Needs More Women

Kansans would be honored and grateful if President Obama would take Gov. Sebelious off our hands. It may even turn this Red state Blue by such a noble gesture.

She has proven her capability set back the advancement of green wind generated power by her veto of the expansion of a state of the art coal plant in western Kansas. The expansion of the coal plant would have provided for the upgrade and expansion of the transmission line. Without a transmission line, you do not have the infrastructure needed to deliver the electricity generated from the wind turbines.

Regardless of what you want to believe, coal WILL provide 60% of all our electrical power generation for the next 30 years (conservation estimates from the U.S. government). In order to promote wind, you should build partnerships and coops with coal, so we all move forward.

Defense and treasury post should be off limit to women. I dread the day a women is in charge of our military. Women are not even allowed to engaged in combat (carry fire arm for combat) and yet you have the audacity to suggest women should be appointed to secretary of defense. Do you think women would be taken seriously in the top post of the military..... Do you think our senior and decorated military ranks would take order from some women. As far as treasury concerns we need some one with brain power who can solve this crisis we are in. I am not saying women are not smart but how many women do you know who won the nobel prize in economy. We are in a dangerous time to play this experiments in affirmative action. Cabinet position should be open only to those who have the highest merit. Just being a women is not a qualification on its own

Barack Obama is in the type of stop that demands that sexual politics not take the front seat. Nevertheless he has enlisted the high profile help of many prominent women, including Madelyn Albright and Kathleen Sebilious; also Caroline Kennedy and Janet Napolitano. Cabinet posts should not be the only way to obtain recognition and help to shape the policies of the administration. In fact, behind the scenes people often wield as much or more power.

To state that Obama "hates" women is pretty petty and ridiculous. He happens to be raising two of them, and from what I can tell, doing a pretty fine job.

I think we will see that Obama's cabinet will be balanced and carefully selected to help him swim with the sharks who are already circling the waters.

The guy hates women. He will only appoint Hillary so he can humiliate her or ruin her career, b/c once she gives up her senate seat, she will be out of a political office. He showed his contempt for women on the campaign trail.

Oh please, there are no qualified women? Give me a break.

Young women wouldn't vote for Hillary because she wasn't perfect. Now all the 4,000 political appointments will be overwhelmingly men. Because men are appointed the under secretaries they are more qualified for Cabinet positions. It is time for women to start their own party and abandon the Democrats.

Before Hillary Clinton can become Secretary of State, the Obama administration will certainly insist on a number of conditions which could include:

1) Bill Clinton must provide a complete listing of all donors to his foundation and presidential library.

2) Both Bill and Hillary Clinton must agree that any and all private financial dealings and other interactions with foreign leaders will not take place unless specifically authorized by the US government.

3) Hillary Clinton agrees to publically discuss exactly what her approach to the job of Secretary of State will be and clearly indicate how she will be able to perform that job without any conflict of interest whatsoever.

If Bill and Hillary Clinton are unwilling or unable to comply with whatever the Obama administration considers necessary, Hillary Clinton cannot become Secretary of State. The ball is in the Clinton’s court.

Yo R.l.Schaefer, the wing nuts brought us Palin about as bright as a bag-o-hammers and that is stretching it. You all need to give it a break, the right wing has 0 credibility, morally, fiscally or intellectually!!!!!

jonnybullet of IL 4:50PM November 19, 2008

R.L. Don't worry not all of us Lefties are going crazy. I fully agree that the people Obama chooses should be based on their qualifications not on what's between their legs. Any woman who get any job because she's a woman is doing women everywhere a disservice. Obama himself being President is already a milestone and he's looking to appoint the 1st African American Attorney General. I was always an Obama supporter (not a Hillary supporter) but there was a great line from the 1st SNL skit w/ Hillary and Palin characters that is what I believe should be the anthem of Feminism "I didn't want to be President b/c I'm a woman. I wanted to be President and I just happened to be a woman"

It is known Obama is considering women for multiple Cabinet positions. However, if they ultimately are not offered the positions because male candidates also in the running are more qualified, that would be an appropriate decision for our country.
