The Hillary Clinton and Michelle Obama Effects

Two posts of interest today on The Daily Beast. The first is by editor Tina Brown, who explains why Senator Clinton would be a good pick for the Obama cabinet and why her stardom would eclipse President-elect Obama in ways that benefit him more than her:

Once Hillary dropped from view, no-drama Obama became a tiny bit boring for a while. As his presidency gets grueling and sour, as it will surely very swiftly become, he will need her again like Batman needs Robin. Not only is she super-smart and wired to Washington, she distracts the press while he gets on with governing.

I'm not sure I completely agree with Tina Brown, but her reasoning is individualistic and spunky.

Then, there's writer Geraldine Brooks's take on Michelle Obama's "Closet Agenda." She says, in so many words, the same thing I blogged about several days back: that the mom in chief routine is a carefully wrought diversion from her negatives during the campaign. She's clearly kinder to Mrs. Obama than I was. But she adds she doesn't think Michelle's ruse will last long and that Michelle has little intention to remain a mom in chief for long.

Lady get off the soap box. What is so special about you that society should think your thoughts and feel your pretentious emotions of being an expert on Michelle Obama or Hilary Clinton, or any other public figure? How much time have you spent with either of the ladies or other public fitures? How long have you or did your work with either of them? Did you go to college with either of them? Stop being degrading and try to support both ladies. They are both brilliant ladies.

The United States has a huge responsibility to correct the mess the present administration (and that includes our Senate and House of Representatives) has allowed this country to sink into in the past few years. As a contributing editor, instead of falling into the trap of personal characterization, I would prefer to see you direct your brilliant mind to assisting in solving the financial mess the country is now experiencing.

I believe this is still the United States of America and Michelle is still a woman and women do change their minds from time to time.

as she really doesn't want that job. That's why she's dragging her MOTHER to DC!

Wasn't the Obamatron mantra, "Change".... A "New Deal" is Washington? Well, maybe it's a "new deal" but those cards are lookin' pretty worn and familiar... And I don't think I trust the guy who's dealin'...
