The Palin Pregnancy--How Should the Democrats Handle It?

Everyone is missing the boat on the issue of young teens getting pregnant. The (sin) is not the pregnancy itself or a baby coming into this world. It is the sex prior to marriage. Sin, in and of itself, is not so much as a set of rules but rather, and act we choose to do because it's self gratifying. It feels good. Teenagers, all over the world and in every family are curious and subjected to sex. These desires are the intention of God, especially in young boys and adult men. Young teenage girls want to be loved and told that they are validated by their attraction. So it seems natural that we come together. Unfortunately, people get hurt. Emotions are ignited and families blame eachother and their children. There's not much we can do after the fact but we can own up to our behaviors and face the consequences. Yes, a baby will change the lives of everyone involved. A teenage girl and boy will be forced to grow up faster. It can be a challenge but good things have come out of bad situations. Rather then teaching sex education we should teach sex abstinence. And when I say 'we' I mean, parents. Not every parent will be guaranteed that their child won't get pregnant but life can be dealt with and things that seem overwhelming and difficult can get easier in time. I am proud of Palin's daughter's decision and the family support. On the lighter side of things, the daughter will be a young mother when her child goes to college. LOL!

I feel very sorry for Bristol Palin. Not because she is unwed and pregnant at 17, but because she has to go through all this scrutiny. I am sure it is difficult enough for her without all this hype in the name of politics. This is a personal family matter and the media, and anyone else who keeps bringing it to the forefront in this election, should be ashamed of themselves. For gosh sakes, leave the poor girl alone and get on with what the two Presidentail candidates will do for this country. Enough with throwing stones. Personally, it does not change my mind about Ms. Palin. Anyone who would try to get a law enforcement officer fired for abusing his position in law enforcement and assume they are above the law, will get my admiration any day.

Especially how she wouldn't allow her daughter if raped to abort.

All I can say is that Ms. Palin and her daughter are very lucky to live in a free country where a prenatal diagnosis of a disability, or premarital sex resulting in pregnancy does not result in a forced abortion. Let’s just hope that the opposite stays true.

This arguement by the left is a non-starter. Obama's Mama had him out of wedlock at the same age. Of course the hypocrisy from the left will be and is dripping all over the blogs. What a bunch of small-minded, petty people. See you all in November when McCain/Palin 08 trounce the kook and the chosen one.

The Democrats should leave the family alone.

It stands as the perfect example of failed conservative policies and practices.

Anything more said about them is utterly redundant.

However I would attack McCain's judgment in knowing all of this and going ahead anyhow. His choice in VP is less qualified for that post than Obama is for the Presidency and on that point alone - the one where McCain allegedly puts 'country first' - proves McCain's goal is the presidency at all costs and the good of the country comes in second.

We can't afford to have another president who puts his own ambitions first.

""Let me be a clear as possible: I have said before and I will repeat again, I think people's families are off limits," Obama said, "and people's children are especially off limits.

"This shouldn't be part of our politics," he continued, "It has no relevance to Gov. Palin's performance as governor, or her potential performance as a vice president.

"And so I would strongly urge people to back off these kinds of stories," he said. "You know my mother had me when she was 18, and how a family deals with issues and, you know, teenage children, that shouldn't be the topic of our politics and I hope that anybody who is supporting me understands that's off limits.""

1) Who said anything about forcing the young lady to marry her boyfriend? Palin's press release merely said that they WILL be married ("Bristol and the young man she will marry..."), not that anyone had FORCED them into the decision. How do you know that these two teens weren't ready to run off and elope (just like Mama did?), and they've been advised by their parents to finish high school first? The statement is inconclusive on whether the marriage is "forced," so don't draw the possibly erroneous conclusion that it is.

2) How many teenagers in the US (Jamie Lynn Spears, as the most famous recent example, and the spate of copycats since her announcement) are taught about birth control in sex education, and get pregnant anyway? This is not necessarily a failure of the "abstinence-only sex education" option; no matter WHAT you teach a kid, when they reach a certain age, they're going to do whatever they're going to do. Even Obama admits that his mama did the same thing, at about the same age...

i think it is disgraceful for a mother who has a handicap child

to run for a extremely challenging and demanding position for the sake of it. that child needs her undivided attention at

all times.she can not help run a country and care for her

child properly. her 17 year has not been given the attention

she needed or she wouldn't be pregant.
