This is an easy one. Elena Kagan, up or down? President Obama's pick for the Supreme Court has mounted the stage of “American Idol: Political Edition.” Over the next months, she’ll be scrutinized, questioned, and debated. Her high school yearbook pictures are already public, along with college essays—indignities that really should not land on anyone. She is also now the centerpiece of a periodic national parlor game in which esteemed ladies and gentlemen of great education and accomplishment become the personification of many of our favorite issues. Guns, gays, abortion, torture, Miranda, and more will be back in the chat mill. Where do you stand on Kagan? Share your thoughts at editor@usnews.com and we’ll see if we can add some light to the heat.

When abortion is the topic, Schaefer never admits that Pro-Lifers are defending church income. Instead, they insist they're "preventing murder of innocent people." Atheists are feared by Pro-Lifers because we drag forth and exhibit the great big connection between CONCEPTION and the ten per cent lifetime tithe and church fees. If a conception is ended, so is its potential dollar value to church employees. I have several relatives whose many generations have lived on church income. Some were in China in the l930's. That's a long time to depend on people producing new believers to replace those who die or lose faith. I did clinic defense, which meant going to a building where health care included abortion. Waiting for us were the "ladies in black with rosaries," operatically counting beads and screaming we were all going to Hell. We'd make a safe circle around a patient and "crab-walk" her to safety inside. It was much like protecting them from pit bulls. Yes, there is a money motive behind Pro-Life and I wlll never stop describing it and its threat to our precious Constitutional rights. "Liberal" is a fine word. It means not being tied up or confined or nullified."

Hey, with the questionnaire filled out let's just skip that cumbersome confirmation process and move straight to the vote. All those in favor? Oh, just give her the black robe and gavel and move on.

She is no more qualified than I am.

I forgot she is a political insider so I guess that good enough.

Wasn't the intent to keep politics out of the court and that's why it's a life time appointment. The Founder's didn't want the Justices to be swayed by politics, they wanted them to be the Keeper of the Constitution.
