How'd that work out for you? That health reform summit, I mean. You've got to give President Obama points for boldness, just for his willingness to step on to a relatively level (the Democrats talked more) playing field with some pretty entrenched opponents. And you've got to give the Republicans credit for articulating alternatives in a respectful way, even if they were having a hard time keeping their feelings in check. But what did it accomplish? The point was to find compromise ground on an important national issue (well, OK, the point may have been for both sides to score political points, but let's take the high road for a minute).
