Someone quit the legal profession to become a freelance writer...

It's not like an I-couldn't-get-anything else "job." It's a career.

You're going to get rejected a million times over, buddy. Take it in stride.

I am a retiree who is 84 years old, and I am trying to make some money as a freelance writer with very little success. A typical example of my attempts is the three articles I sent for the review of the Editor, Brian Kelly, at US News and World Report. Did I get any acceptances? No! Did I get any rejections? No. Did I get any acknowledgment of the receipt of my feeble attempts for attention? You know the answer. I humbly request an acknowledgement of my effort.

At this point, I owe you an apology for being so abrupt, but you asked for my comments. By the way, I would not be trying freelance writing if I could get a decent job. Don't you believe for a minute that there is no such a thing as age discrimination in the hiring halls of industry.

Sincerely,

Robert J. Linehan of NC 6:42PM October 13, 2009
