How Apple Gets Away With Things Other Companies Couldn't

Frankly, I expect my employer to respect my right to keep my health information private. Every employee deserves the same, regardless of whether they are a CEO or janitor. The bad behavior here is the authors, who wants to pry into other peoples private business exactly like the tabloid reporter he is defending.

Interesting.

Explain this to me: How is it that ALL other major brands ALSO use Foxconn as a manufaturer but the ONLY one who seems to get people's attention is Apple?

Microsoft, Amazon, Nokia, Intel, Acer, Sony, Cisco, ect, etc...ALL of them make their products at Foxconn. The exact same factory.

That, to me, is even a more important question

The same factories that made Apple products also made products for other computer companies like HP, Samsung etc. The reason ANYONE cares is BECAUSE of Apple and the standard people hold them to. Replace every headline about Apple factories with Dell and noone in America cares. I am a Apple fan and I say go after them for bad working conditions! Because they are the tide that raises all boats. If they are forced to improve so will everyone else. Apple is the standard everyone is now held to. Hold their feet to the fire and improve the whole thing.

Sour Grapes!

What do you really know about working conditions in Foxconn? You are just repeating other stories. You do not know. Read this: http://www.thestreet.com/story/11455556/1/foxconn-the-fire-that-wasnt.html

I certainly hope that USNWR didn't pay you for this "report" - its integrity lies in about the same plane as the Foxxcon report, which, by the way, was withdrawn in its entirety.

Mr. Argenti, are you stupid? I would hope not, but your writing definitely alludes to it.

Writing an article stating NewsCorp hacking into voicemail is comparable to Apple not disclosing Steve Jobs' health is simply ABSURD. One is illegal. The other is not. How about the working conditions at a company that isn't Apple, Inc.? The fact Apple is the only company to go to these lengths to improve conditions at a firm which is NOT under their control is one of the reasons they're respected rather than deplored. How about the other companies who contract with Foxconn, those who sat idly by while the various media trolls fed on the traffic gained by posting anything "Apple" in the title - much as you have done? Where is the disdain for those other companies? Simple - Putting "Dell" in the title of an article doesn't pull visitors.

So lets call a spade a spade - you suck as a journalist, but you did a fair job of astroturfing for web traffic.

Apple enlisted the help of the Fair Labor Association to audit the entire Foxconn operation. Saying that they were "attacked" by them is a completely false statement. You are a professor and cannot even do basic research? Sad
