Terrible article!!Italy &Greece are now in hands of ECB/IMF/FEDMafia master plan!!#Different from Berlusconi that said he was in a occupied country by the banks..&from Papandreous that said he was going to sue USbanks[like GSachs] for CDS responsability on greek default!Mr Monti said :'We all need a break from democracy..."Did you, J.Rickards, agree with that???We never, ever, need ANY break from Democracy..!!!U.S. is already in deep trouble for a big lack of democracy..in a globalized society..Is it not enough ??

Americans Elect is indeed a nonpartisan process to nominate a people's candidate for President, but it is unlikely a technocrat without charisma could garner enough popular support to take the AE contest. Most Americans are looking for a strong, experienced, moderate leader with vision that addresses the concerns of the voters instead of any one party or political ideology. Yet, despite a high likelihood that the AE candidate will be on the ballot in all 50 states, none of the top draft picks has agreed to run except Buddy Roemer.

Does this mean no other experienced highly regarded leader is interested in running against Obama as a "third" party candidate? If this is true, facing only a relatively weak conservative Republican opponent and no left wing Democratic opposition, Obama could conceivably enlist Jon Huntsman to be his VP running mate, and garner both the Democratic and Americans Elect slots on the ballot. Obama/Huntsman would certainly win by a landslide and, presenting a united front, could offer bipartisan executive and legislative solutions that Congress would be forced to pass. End of gridlock.

This successful scenario could result in Americans Elect becoming the preferred centrist, nonpartisan, nominating process for future election cycles, with independent candidates who best match the views of their constituents having the greatest likelihood of being elected to office. Political parties would be seen as a relic of a dysfunctional past.

I didn't read anything about "installing" an unelected official into office. It looks like comprehension skills are also lacking in this country. What I did read was that we need an educated, non-political figure to help resolve the fiscal crisis in this country because the two parties are incapable of doing anything to rectify our current situation.

"You have got to be kidding me? Install an unelected bankster and put him in charge of government policy?'

And just where did he say that?

Good lord........

You have got to be kidding me? Install an unelected bankster and put him in charge of government policy? Why not just put Stalin or Hitler back in? This piece of fiction is incredulous coming from you. Think about the results. Do you think the "people" are better off with one of those unelected "technocrats" running the country?

Someone must have hacked your profile Jim or you have been co-opted. There is a reason there were checks and balances written into the consitution.

Come on!

In Europe lots of presure has been put upon Grece and Italy to clean up their house in exchange for aid. The US lacks such pressures of urgency. May be change will come when the water rises till their lips...
