Don't Blame Rasmussen for Obama's Lousy Poll Numbers

Regardless of "how many seats the Republicans win" it is a foregone conclusion that the Republicans will win back significant numbers on Nov. 2nd., which will only BOOST their confidence and make them more Conservative than they've been in years. Democrats that survive will also be "walking on eggshells" and less likely to champion the radical socialist policies of the Obama regime and also push them toward more "fiscally responsible" voting.

Obama loses his "golden opportunity" of having had control of both houses of Congress for 2 years... having squandered it on his "radical socialist agenda, while allowing the economy to fall deeper in to a quagmire.

The real winners are the American people, thanks in a big way to the American Tea Parties for having "rattled the Democrats and RINO Republicans out of their hypnotic spending trance!"

November 2nd is only the beginning. It took decades of "poor government leaders and uncontrolled spending to get in to our current mess. It will take serious, on-going and relentless dogging of ALL politicians at every federal and state level for our government to come to its senses.

It will never be perfect, but Americans realize it can be far, far better than what it is today.

In the last election, Rasmussen's final poll taken in each state missed on exactly 2 states. He called Indiana for McCain and Missouri for Obama. Not sure how he is "leaning" with that type of result in his state by state polling.

If you look state by state, you will see Rasmussen generally called McCain's support correctly but missed on Obama's. This is pretty common as a portion of the electorate was still undecided and those undecided's tend to break toward the challenger. Although McCain was not an incumbent, Obama painted him as one.

This is the same king of silly argument the head of polling at ABC just made; Polling isn't about results, it't about having a good methodology. Rasmussen seems to have a sound methodology and reports extremely accurate results. Not sure what can be better than that.

People who matter, know the truth!

That truth is, Rasmussen has always been top tier in accuracy.

Every major election every projection etc.

But if some non relevant peanuts from the gallery want to

repeatedly bash Rasmussen in hopes their wishes may come true, have it!

It only serves to distinguish the smart from the foolish.

I couldnt agree more.

It's not an opinion that Rasmussen missed his 2008 presidential battleground state predictions all in the same direction - it's a fact based on the numbers from his own website. There were plenty of pollsters that missed in the other direction. They were wrong, too. They weren't cited by Heye as some sort of Oracle. The reliability of Rasmussen's numbers was used by Heye as the basis for his whole article. As a matter of fact (not opinion), Rasmussen consistently leans in the same direction. That makes Rasmussen an unreliable resource.

I don't disagree that President Obama's approval numbers are down (how much and why is a different subject), but to cite Rasmussen is foolish.

Facts are facts and that has nothing to do with any sort of media bias.

"On a state by state basis, in all of the battleground states, Rasmussen consistently leaned to the right."

Since 90% of the media leans to the left, somebody had to come to bat for the right. Go ahead and flame; thats what you guys do best.

because it can't be Obama that the electorate is angry at. It can't be his policies, lies, and lack of transparency.

In spite of all that, he still has the opportunity to be the best president ever.

Here's how Scott Rasmussen called the 2008 Presidential race in his last round of polling (November 3, 2008):

He had McCain winning in Florida: Wrong

He had McCain winning in Indiana: Wrong

He had McCain winning in North Carolina: Wrong

He had Ohio as even: Obama won by 4% (outside of Rasmussen's +-3%, 95% confidence level)

Scott Rasmussen did not "hit the nail on the head" in 2008. Not even close.

The guy that hit the nail on the head was non-pollster numbers maven Nate Silver at fivethirtyeight.com. Silver speaks highly of Rasmussen's reliability, but reliability is different from accuracy. In order to achieve his own stellar results, Silver had to massage out Rasmussen's reliably pro-GOP 'house effect'.

I see Rasmussen and others tout his very accurate final 2008 national presidential numbers. So what? Anybody with ten minutes and a $5 calculator could have come up with virtually the same number by averaging out a 'poll of polls'. Unless we get rid of the Electoral College, that number is irrelevent (see 2000 presidential election). On a state by state basis, in all of the battleground states, Rasmussen consistently leaned to the right.

Only the fact that Obama's victory was so overwhelming covered up how badly Rasmussen did where it counted - in the individual state races. Think how different the electoral map would have looked in a closer race. Rasmussen's results would have been correctly viewed as hopelessly skewed.

jimatmadison of WI 10:14AM January 17, 2010

As far as I am concerned his Polls are still polled too high at -13 Rasmussen right now!

The only reason he has this much credibility is because of Haidi and his big speeches on Television with the other two criminals George W. Bush and Bill Clinton! Regular citizens don't realize that it is all hype and Public Relations!

These men don't give a tinkers dam about the Haitans! If they don't care about Americans - why would they care about Haitans whom they can't make any money from?

Look at what the ObamaNation of the DemoRat Party has done, to make sure he could make money from the Fraud Climate Change ( Global Warming ) agenda, he tried to suck everybody in with at Copenhagen! Look at this!

I have to tell folks, about what the Obamanation the big DemoRat has done to help fraud Global warming Data! Surely, countries won't be expected to pay Carbon emissions on this terribly Fraudulently manipulated Science?

A leading scientist involved in the climategate scandal received over half a million dollars in federal economic stimulus funds from the Obama Administration last Summer, it has been revealed.

Professor Michael Mann of Penn State University, currently under investigation by the institution itself for his role in massaging climate data and hijacking the peer review process to advance the myth of anthropogenic global warming, was awarded a grant of $541,184 by the government in June 2009.

Mann, the creator of the now infamously discredited Hockey Stick Graph, landed money that came directly from the U.S. Treasury’s economic stimulus package, reveals the Washington free-market think-tank group The National Center For Public Policy Research (NCPPR).

The official justification for the grant, authorized under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, was labeled as “climate change research”.

An NCPPR press release, published today, calls for the funds to be returned:Of course, the kind of economic stimulus Obama has in mind in awarding such grants to proponents of AGW may stem directly from his own intimate involvement in the carbon tax program he is now seeking to broadly implement.
