Tucson Was Obama's Best While 'Blood Libel' Was Palin's Worst
Tweet Share on Facebook January 13, 2011 Comment (41)Last evening, Barack Obama gave the best speech of this presidency. President Obama’s rhetoric is reminiscent of John F. Kennedy’s. So it is fitting that President Obama's best effort came the week before we celebrate the 50th anniversary of President Kennedy's celebrated inaugural address.

Democrats Should Stop Talking and Start Listening
Tweet Share on Facebook January 6, 2011 Comment (8)As I was watching the festivities on Capitol Hill yesterday, I was thinking about Nancy Pelosi’s request to filmmaker Steven Spielberg for help in rebranding the Democratic party. If Mr. Spielberg reads this post, please ask E.T. to phone House Democrats.

Obama, Congress, Finish Strong
Tweet Share on Facebook December 23, 2010 Comment (12)As a political consultant it always amazes me how focused my clients become when they are in real political trouble. So congratulations to President Obama for pulling a couple of rabbits out of a couple hats and getting the Senate to ratify the New START Treaty with the Russians and to repeal the military’s odious “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy against gay soldiers and sailors. The folks on Fox News were hopping mad at the Senate and that’s good enough for me.

How Republicans Won the Tax Cut Message War
Tweet Share on Facebook December 16, 2010 Comment (13)The lame duck Congress is about to become a dead duck and unfortunately, the tax cut deal is about to become a done deal with Senate passage yesterday and House passage imminent. So there’s not much point now in arguing the merits of the bill. But as we head into a new year, there’s plenty of time to discuss how congressional Republicans were able box the president in a corner and force him to accept a deal that he admitted he didn’t like.

Megyn Kelly's GQ Photo Spread Enough to Make a Liberal Go Right
Tweet Share on Facebook December 10, 2010 Comment (7)Until recently the only time I ever watched the Fox News Channel was when something bad happened to Republicans or something good happened to Democrats. That way, I could say "take that, Sean Hannity." Needless to say I haven't been watching much FNC lately.

GOP Wants the Best of Times for the Rich, the Worst for the Poor
Tweet Share on Facebook December 2, 2010 Comment (22)In the Tale of Two Cities, Charles Dickens wrote, “It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” Why in Washington is it the best of times for wealthy Americans, and the worst of times for poor people and unemployed Americans?

Obama Should End 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Himself
Tweet Share on Facebook November 18, 2010 Comment (5)Mr. President. Don’t ask the lame duck session of Congress to end "don't ask, don't tell." Just tell Congress that you’ll do it yourself.

Democrats Lost Because of Unemployment, Not Spending
Tweet Share on Facebook November 4, 2010 Comment (15)Tuesday's electoral disaster was not surprising since the best message that Democrats could come up with for the midterms was “voting for us is better than a sharp stick in the eye." Not surprisingly, voters did not flock to our banner. Believe me, I know. As a Democratic strategist and pollster, my specialty is message development and we should have and could have done a lot better.
