Democrats Lost Because of Unemployment, Not Spending

The two things are tightly connected, which Mr. Bannon apparently does not understand. But then he admits to being a Democrat, so it's not surprising.

As economics has been politicized as either Democratic or Republican, what we probably need are people who truly understand economics and are not political hacks. What we have are dollars and cents, items by themselves that are neither Democratic or Republican. What we have are people who measure out money based on a political yardstick.

Spending on an abortive Stimulus (Porkulus) Bill and Obamascare were the main items that produced the shellacking of Obama and his misguided agenda. Notice this spending was not on jobs creation.

Pelosi and Moonbeam Brown of California epitomize the stupidity of the Progressives when they believe food stamps and UI benefits are better places to spend taxpayer money than on jobs! When will they get it?

"Democ-rats lost because of unemployment and not spending."

But of course the spending was supposed to be the solution to unemployment. it wasn't during the 1930s and it won't be today. By 1938 the American people had enough of FDR and that was reflected in the election results of that year. the Democ-rats knew they were on the way to defeat in 1940 and were saved by Hitler, Mussolini and Tojo. The war industrialization was what reelected FDR, not the new Deal and FDR knew it when he said' Doctor New Deal has to give way to Doctor Win the War."

What is Obama going to do, bomb Havana when the Chinese and Cubans set up oil drilling platforms off the Florida coast?

David S. Levine of FL 12:45PM November 05, 2010

these republican freshmen will only get re-elected if they fix unemplyment, which they have no intention of doing anything about at all. Instead they plan on cutting heath insurance benefits and unemployment benefits, and setting up anti-climate change witch hunts.

The dems prevented job losses from being as bad as they could have been, but the Rep. will actively try to make things worse and even strip benefits from those out of work. By time for Obamas re-election the backlash against congress will be radioactive and surely propel Obama to another term the same way they did for Clinton. History repeats itself.

And if it doesn't Palin doesn't stand a chance against Hillary.

Scientifically speaking - polls are taken in place where 'the science indicates they can project winners'. It does not necessarily reflect the larger sentiments of the American people. I know a lot more Americans are concerned about government spending and the deficit than the 'polls' indicate. Government spending has been mostly about creating government jobs, more regulation, and hence more government jobs, which translates into fewer private sector jobs and less tax revenue. The media would do well to get away from the pollsters and hit the road with more old fashion research away from the ivory and marble towers and hit the roadside diners and mom & pop places (that are left) and get the real sentiment of the country. It is all about the deficit, spending and lack of private sector jobs. The media has spent the last generation pushing the reality TV view on everyone instead of reality. Not much realism in reality TV.

America has one of the highest industrialized cooperate tax rate in the World.

Both lead to jobs leaving.

Saying “The republicans will end up giving the corporations tax breaks so they can send more jobs overseas to make more profits.” makes not sense. Lowering tax rate is incentive to stay.

Nice Aloyisous Farrel. Nice. You might want to look up the word racist so you can see a picture of yourself.

The republicans will end up giving the corporations tax breaks so they can send more jobs overseas to make more profits. Thanks Aloyisous Farrel. Thanks!

I'm so happy I'm not part of the tea party movement that includes Aloyisous Farrel.

"Well, yeah, we do suck worse than the republicans... But we swallow!"

"Hey, look, our guy is black! Everyone knows they are really cool and with-it!"

"Here's $100, a carton of smokes and a fifth of liquor of your choice, remember its the names with the "D" next to them!"

"Come on, you don't really want that fine-ass looking house speaker relegated to below-the-fold, do you?"

The 80% of us who have jobs went to the polls to slap down the debt-crazed democrats, so that A) we keep our jobs, B) best help those without jobs get one, and C) so we all don't have so much new federal debt to pay back.

Bannon's article shows why we should accept absolutely no compromise whatsoever when it comes to cutting federal spending, as per DeMint, McConnell, and the Tea Party. The democrats don't get it because they don't want to. And that's their continuing problem, not ours.

And as per Obama in India, if we are lucky, while he's out of the country some enterprising 15-year-old kid will hack into Homeland Security computers, put Obama's name on the no-fly list, then anonymously tip off Napolitano that Air Force One was hijacked by someone on the no-fly list. Obama can then spend the next two years trying to clear things up -- from Gitmo.
