As a former resident of Boston now living in Texas, it amazes me how individuals like Bannon fail to understand that those of us who live in border states want to control illegal immigration for safety reasons. In Houston an illegal immigrant was just arrested for killing a 14 year girl (shot in the back while running away) during a robery. The individual charged with murder had been deported back to El Salvador (for DUI convictions) twice in the past two years , yet was back in the US again. Now a young girl is dead. I worder how Bannon would feel if it was his child who perished?

Asking for controls on immigration is not being against immigration. Many immigrants (legal or illegal) are decent hard working folks. But some are not. The US governmnet has a responsibility to keep those individuals out.

Simply dismissing something as tripe or someother denigrating epithet is less effective than a thoughtful and well documented response. The neanderthals should try it and maybe they'll get more respect.

Keep repeating it long enough and loud enough, and you might actually get people to believe it.

I'm not sure that i have ever read such ignorant tripe before (not counting, of course, Steve's posts), and quite frankly, even bother to respond in this short a manner is a waste of time.

DeeToo, you are a person of integrity and you are very fair and wise. If many people thought like you, the world would be a much nicer place to live. May God bless you.

Hey Bill, check it out. More culture war being used to supplant class war by GOP/KKK alliance. Hate and wedge issues always work to divert attention from the real issues. Don't just take my word for it; here is a Tennesee KKK leader to confirm it;

"KKK Disbands Claiming GOP Has Co-opted All Of Their Ideas

Pulaski, Tennessee - The Ku Klux Klan officially disbanded today claiming that the Republican Party has co-opted all of their ideas concerning race, immigration and religion and that there was no longer any need for their existence.

In a jubilant and sometimes rowdy ceremony, Grand Wizard Floyd T-Bone Perkins said, "We consider it a measure of our success that the Republicans have picked up our torch and carried it across the entire country. We were especially pleased with what the Republicans did in Florida in the elections of 2000. The way they kept the coloreds from voting was awe inspiring. And then they did the same thing in Ohio in 2004. Hell, their techniques were a whole lot better than ours. You might say, they learned from us and did us one better. But, that said, the most important thing is that the Republican Party has restored the country to what it is meant to be, a white Christian nation."

Most Klan members present supported the move to disband the KKK and said that they had felt welcome in the Republican Party for a long time. White House spokesperson Tony Snow was unavailable for comment."

Here is the root of the GOP southern strategy which Bill denies exists; even LBJ said it was a historic political reality;

"In the middle of a very contentious political battle over civil rights legislation, President Lyndon Baines Johnson muttered prophetically about the ugly political schism that would shape America's future, for generations to come. He essentially stated that if the Democratic party were to fully embrace and push for civil rights legislation, offering equal protection for millions of Americans who had been dealt an ugly historical misfortune, the party would "lose the South for 50 years". He knew why he said what he said. After all, he had his roots in that great southern state of Texas -- not know for its warm hearted embrace of civil or equal rights. Sadly, which may be more evident today than it was in 1964 or 65, he was correct."

The GOP and the KKK similarly use racism to create culture wars, hate and wedge issues to divide and confuse people to promote the GOP agenda on behalf of the rich. Bannon couldn't be more accurate in his analysis; hate and divisiveness is a form of class war waged by the rich which diverts the anger of poor people toward other similarly situated individuals who are so often part of their own social class. It's a cynical game that's been played everywhere throughout history. Sadly, we are seeing it right here in our times.
