The stimulus passed less then a month ago. Even if you are into instant gratification it's way to fast to judge. However, 2 big banks are claiming a return to profitability. The stock market seems to be bottoming out. We have a federal budget. Retail sales are a bit stronger then expected. Sure there is still a lot to do but Bush's do nothing policies that got us into this mess are gone and Obama/Pelosi's new ones show signs of working.

Health care is an economic issue. The US system is at best 2nd rate and overly expensive. It is killing small business and making the US uncompetitive in the world market. If we want a vibrant economy it has to be fixed.

Let me clarify: Insurance Companies would love to compete with government plans on SMALL EMPLOYERS as long as the government plan DOES NOT CHEAT AND COST SHIFT the underpayment of doctors and hospitals to the insurance companies making the free market insurance plans uncompetitive. Do you believe government plans in competition with free market plans should be allowed to cheat and cost shift their underpayments?

really. Is anyone surprised on his job so far? He was a great salesmen... I am always turned off myself by salesmen so that didn't work on me. 1. he's attempting to do much of what he said he would... regardless of wether it is pragmatic or intelligent. 2. He is acting precisely as inexperienced as he is. 3. Almost all of the people who voted for him did so for reasons other than choosing the best leader.

In order to file a tax return you have to have income. At this moment there are millions of people have no income. How is being able to deduct medical cost put money back into American's pockets and back into the economy; when there is no income to report on the tax return in the first place?

From what I've seen and have read across different websites, its not looking for Obama. In fact, its kind of rare to find a supporter for him.

Reason being for Obama's decline of support and confidence is because he has done NOTHING, to help our economy! What an idiot! If he wants to stay in office, he'd better get in gear with a plan to fix our economy before a lynch mob comes after him! No one that I've spoken with who supported and voted for Obama, are reeling in shock, because he spoke and promoted change. Well, if the change he was speaking about, is to watch our capitalistic system go down the tubes, this change is suceeding.

I have several plans to fix the economy as well, Rick, of PA:)

But its really too long to post. I tried posting my top 25 points for a FAST, EFFECTIVE, economic recovery on Buzzup but they wouldn't post it all. But I did send the purposals to the president, now, if he'll just read it and apply it, will be the hurdle.

Every move the Obamanists have made has only weakened the US economy and reputation further. Not even the fools who put him in office feel any confidence in this JR Senator.

Businesses both big and small are running scared and THEY are our only hope of restoring jobs.Obama/Pelosi are rushing to shove "their" agenda through before America wakes up.

I hope it's not too late. Looka at China, Russia, Iran, etc.

The wolves are already circling around this naive little man.

Oh yeah, those elderly or disabled on Medicare, would be eligible to file tax returns on their medical costs every year too, to off set their expenses, under the medical deduction.

By having the medical deduction on the federal income tax forms, would allow ALL Americans the opportunity to deduct their medical costs that their insurance/s didn't cover. For instance, if you had insurance and it didn't cover $1500. for a surgery, and you paid on it or all of it, you could deduct that amount you paid, on your tax return. So regardless of your insurance coverage, Americans would be allowed to deduct those medical costs that their insurance didn't pay, every year. This way, everyone is covered, healthier, and keeps our economy moving. Also, when people have money, and our money is worth something, having this plan would put the money back into American's pockets and back into the economy:)

Having this particular plan would By insure All Americans, and by doing so, insures our economy...since this would be a cycle of, working Americans who pay for their insurance, would be healthier, and would get their medical costs that their insurance didn't pay for deducted and that money back into their pockets and back into our economy, which helps pay American workers who pay for their insurance, etc, etc, etc,:)

Hey, Rick of PA,

Wonderful, beautiful state, by the way.

4. All smaller businesses and their employees would be covered by the state/federal insurance plans that would be comparable as other competitor insurance companies. These insurance plans would be available, not mandated.

Let me clarify. You were correct when you stated that Medicare does not pay for all medical expenses. And those currently on Medicare who can afford a suppliment insurance to Medicare, is wonderful.

But there are many who currently have Medicare who cannot afford to pay for a suppliment insurance every month, plus $96.00 for Medicare premium per month, plus $100.00 annual doctor deductible and an $800.00 hospital deductible, and charges that Medicare did not cover.

Let us all remember, the average Social Security check for Americans are $1,050 per month...if you're single, and around $1,500. per month for couples. Let's leave Medicare alone, as is, with it's surplus of $300 million. Medicare currently makes money for future generations, so lets leave well enough alone here.

What I would purpose in #4 is, a NEW state/federal insurance for all businesses, who employee less than 100 people. This would be like other insurances at a reduced rate...combining all employees who work for employers with less than 100 people. The more employees who buy into the insurance program...the less the rates would be. This would be offered, not mandated.

I hope that I've clairified #4 better for you, Rick, and thanks for writing.

lindilu ashbury of NH 5:55PM March 12, 2009

Reagarding your #4. Presently Medicare & Medicaid pay the Hospital's and Doctor's less than what the actual cost is. The Hospital's & Doctor's then shift this underpaid amount to private insurance companies making them uncompetitive with government plans. Private insurance companies would just love to compete against government plans on a level playing field, NO COST SHIFTING, and a "take all comers" law. Private insurance plans would "eat the government plans lunches" as non-profit and profit insurance companies are more efficient then government bureaucracies. I'm concerned Liberal Democrats will continue cost shifting so they can eventually socialize the entire system which of course would be dreadful, but probably what they want to do.
