The Ford Story: The way Ford is suppose to be doing things differently. I'll tell you right now, you would not be reading this message if Ford was doing things differently. If Ford had done the 'right thing' different from Fords past behavior when it comes to defective parts killing an/or maiming people.First of all Alan Mulally took office in 2006. He was advised of the issues that ford was having with fires, Drew Griffin from CNN did a great piece about the cruise control switch fires. So I am sure Alan was aware, if not he shouldn't be Ford's CEO. He should have recalled ALL OF THE CARS AND TRUCKS WITH OR WITH SIMILAR CRUISE CONTROL SWITCHES! So what is different, from the era of the pinto fires of the past, covered up, and cost to repair and replace verses law suits ? which one is cheaper? Then we will let the customer burn!!!!!!!!!!!

What should he have done again: In my personal situation, Ford should have come in from the beginning, because they had seen many other fire patterns etc. just like mine, but mine killed two innocent young people. Being a grieving family for starters, Ford could have sent flowers, paid for the funeral service, and replaced my burned up car. Then offered financial atonement, without demand or jury trial. Then I wouldn't be sitting here writing this comment, I would be doing my missions work in Bulgarian orphanages.

So, if Ford is different, and Henry Ford spoke about reputation and what you're going to do. It seems as though Ford is no different, and Fords reputation is only being held on by strings of hope by the multi-million dollar law firms it hires Dykema.Ford would rather dish out tons of Attorney's fees, than take any responsibility for the actions of FoMoCo. This seems an incredible lesson for our future America. The young learn to step on, cover up but never stand-up and be strong in a statement of corporate responsibility . Wow if I could only hear honest remorse. I dare you Mr. CEO to stand-up and truly do something different this time, show the world Ford is no longer the snake oil salesman of the past. That Ford is truly willing to make amends with the consumers that it wronged. Show the students true ethical business practices in action. Take responsibility for Payton Tyler Lewis' death, let his death mean something. Let Ford take the new direction all the way, and Our family will forgive.

I am a high school student trying to find information on the auto bailout and I found this site to be very helpful. I have a big presentation focusing on the bailout and I got loads of information from here.

But I would like to say that I think the bailout is a good idea. I have done huge amounts of research and I have found that it would be in the best interest of the nation to help the struggling auto industries. After all, cars, trucks and the like are our main way of transportation.

I have also talked to people who work closely with the automakers and they are very worried that if we don't have a bailout, there will be a huge domino effect and more people than just those directly involved with them will be out of a job.

That is all thank you.

the correct word is "MICHIGANIAN" NOT Michigander....

joanna of MI 9:32PM February 27, 2009

CEO's of GM & Chrysler are NOT engineers..the Ford CEO IS an engineer & a business man he is the best !

dede of MI 9:30PM February 27, 2009

Only 53% of Michiganders favor a (home state) auto bailout? -- with 36% opposed?

That's reminiscent of the old saw about the hospitalized CEO who received a card that read, "By a vote of 12 to 9 the Board of Directors hopes that you will get well soon."

They have had the unions and the government protecting them for so long they have forgotten how to stand on their own.

GOD BLESS THE UNITED STATES OF ASIA JUST LIKE OUR LEADERS EVERYBODY NEEDS TO KEEP BUYING FOREIGN AND THEN WE WILL SEE WHICH DIRECTION OUR COUNTRY GOES. NO TAX BASE FROM MANUFACTURING MEANS MORE TAXES FROM YOU.

Dave of MI 4:16PM February 23, 2009

Reorganize and trim the union fat away. But, ease the CAFE standards and pollution regulation as well. We are in an economic war - I promise China will create 10 times more pollution than our auto industry and all we'll gain is a collapsed economy.

"Going Green" has "Gone Overboard"

R.L. Schaefer of CA 4:07PM February 23, 2009

I would bet the other states would cry if the auto states voted to shut down all the US food suppliers! Let them get their food from Japan !! Soon we will drive foreign cars runnung on foreign fuel rideing on foreign tires and if we need military

transportation just ask Japan or Korea th build them.

Bobbob of MI 3:57PM February 23, 2009

GM shouldnt receive anothe dime. Let them figure it out on there own, or just file chapter 11, and do away with all though union contracts, THAT IS WHAT KILLING GM. They will never surive paying those high wages, and those stupid union rules!
