For Obama and Democrats It's Stimulus Versus Saving the Environment

Maybe I'm a little slow on the uptake, or maybe you weren't real clear, even intentionally ambiguous - Maybe a little of both.

Now, MDSS, I'm sober enough to know the rantings of a secular progressive, relativist when I hear 'em. You'd better start rantin' louder, people are beginning to figure out what "hard left Environmentalism" really is.

r.l. schaefer of ca. you are pitiful. im sure mexico is in imminent danger of going red! oh noez.

sober up buddy, its not 1984 and youre not in "red dawn."

trying to conjunct environmentalism and state religion is a joke. you want to know what is the state religion? its christianity. surprise. who did the inaugural prayer, a wiccan or that fat christian dude?

If the stimulus package doesn't take environmental concerns into account, there will be even bigger economic hits down the road as the ecological infrastructure - and public health - degrades. If on the other hand we invest in sustainable practices in forest management, energy generation, construction, and so on we'll see economic benefits now and in the future.

Mr. Schaefer, did you not notice that I am complimenting the author here for the idea of also suspending or at least hastening environmental review for other things too?

That border fence will also help keep terrorists and billions of dollars in street drugs out of the country. Further, Mexico is on the verge of collapse and the drug cartels are gaining more power, at the end of a gun, everyday. Border towns are already in chaos.

Another worry is what power will step into the Mexico vacuum as "peace-keepers" if/when their government unravels? I suspect Putin, Hugo, and Castro are rubbing their hands together right now at the prospect of having their "peace-keepers" arrayed along the Rio Grande.

In case no one has noticed... Environmentalists think any human endeavor ( other than restoring the environment, closing roads and public access and brainwashing school kids) is evil. Figure it out people, Environmentalism has become the State Religion, and its dogma is strangling industry, education, courts, freedom of speech and unbiased science.

Recognize this neo-pantheism for what it is.

R.L. Schaefer of CA 1:09PM February 06, 2009

Important subject. Good article. The economic emergency we face now is AT LEAST as important as that border fence we built in a skip-the-reviews hurry just as many of the Mexicans went home anyway for lack of jobs here.
