Yeah, the old map looks pretty obsolete......as will your entirely disposable analysis come November. (But I'm happy for you that you get paid to spend your time trying to predict where smoke will go as it rises.)

The reason Obama and Clinton are fighting with such grit for the Demo nomination is because their contest isn't really about the nomination. It's about the general election. The Demo nominee will have a cakewalk into the White House. In Texas, before it turned Republican, there were voters there known as "yellow dawg Democrats," which meant that these voters would vote for a dog over a Republicans. Today Dems could nominate a dog for President and still win over John McCain.

Bob Novak looks at the race (presumably using the same Survey USA numbers) and--in contrast to your "new electoral map" theme--sees only a few changes around the edges. I believe he saw Iowa, Colorado, and New Mexico possibly switching sides from '04. Any comments on this more conventional viewpoint?
