You are correct in stating racism is alive in America. Obama has demonstrated he is a racist by associating for 20+ years with a whitey hating minister that Obama calls his mentor and spiritual leader. No comparison to McCain being supported by Fallwell and Robertson unless you can prove to me that either of them have been McCains mentor or spiritual leader. McCain cannot help who supports him; he can only control who he supports!

Obama has been supporting the spew of Wright long enough to demonstrate to me that Obama shares his views. Obama is a racist.

Funny in America huh? Call an African American a racist and that just does not compute. Why? Racism is racism no matter what color is directing it.

I believe is Obama is just a sweet-talking politician. I have yet to see anything concrete from him. And yes, the idea that his preacher who gives him spiritual

guidance hates white people scares me. I agree blacks have not always been treated well. I believe there have been many mistakes in the past and there's still prejudice going on. However, by preaching hate and not unity, is that getting the world anywhere. I am not prejudice. But if you're preaching that the white race

should be "killed" and "condemned", of course it's going to create more racial issues. We celebrate "Black History" month in an effort to engage all people together. We celebrate Martin Luther King day for his vision and leadership. We don't celebrate "White History" month because we'd get condemned for racism. This country has tried to help all these issues by putting in place legislature for hate crimes, equal hiring practices, etc. While it's not perfect, it's sure trying. Aren't we going backwards if Obama believes in what his preacher is striving for. And honestly, I would not be part of a congregation in which any hate is preached. I cannot see anything I can get from a church like that unless I actually buy into those principles.

Christianity is that first, not black rights, then Christianity. And Christianity teaches love and forgiveness. His preacher has a hidden agenda. Christianity is definitely not first on his list.

I was not going to vote for Obama because I think he lacks substance. The recent articles coming out supports my initial beliefs. I think we're making a big mistake if he becomes President. And I think it's a huge mistake for the Democrats to put him in the race against McCain. All of this will come up and we'll end up with a Republican president again (and we need that changed).

When Obama worships in a church with such a racist and unamerican preacher for twenty years and then brings up comments about typical white people, should have some serious concerns. Most of my friends and I are white democrats, how do you think we feel.I think John McCain wil get alot of white democrat votes if this man gets nomination.

Born and raised in Africa and Asia before immigrating to the USA, I felt it easy to understand and truly empathize with Barack Obama's past and enduring relationship with his pastor and his church. Having lived here for a while, I also find it easy to understand why so many folks condemn him for this association while others support him even more than before. My guess is that many of the former group have little understanding or respect for the reasons why America is so diminished in the eyes of so many across the globe. Many choose to see the events of 9-11 as a planned act by those who "hate our freedoms and way of life" rather than a mutated evil arising from the diverse and massive cauldron of resentment against foreign policies in the Middle East and elsewhere that have crushed the lives of the "nameless and worthless". There is only one person in my view who can bridge this terrible gap so that America can rediscover and project its true greatness, its soft power, - it is Mr Obama. He is work-in-progress and it is fascinating to watch him grow in stature before our eyes.

But an inner circle member of his campaign, at least until the last week or so.

This is no different from a Republican putting a KKK official in his inner circle and as his personal spiritual adviser. I'm really stunned that Obama, who I really want to believe is a good man, allowed himself to stay involved with this racist hate-monger once it became clear, as it did long, long ago, what he was.

Comparisons of this to received endorsements is just silly, come on Dave, you're better than that. Similarly, Terri, making this a race issue is way off base. This is about a candidate tacitly approving of the most vile sort of hate, nothing more and nothing less.

No blaming the media, endemic racism, or any other bogeyman here, this is purely of Obama's own (un)doing.

Gary Collard of TX 2:55PM March 19, 2008

"Now, tell me how that case is vastly different from Sen. Obama's case?

Did Rev. Farwell make exactly the same statement that 9/11 was God's punishment for America? Were Republican politicians linked to him focussed to disown him? "

The big difference is that you are talking about endorsements not a person's pastor. Sen. Obama has attended Rev. Wright's church for 20 years. He was married by Rev. Wright. His children were baptized by Rev. Wright. He has put his children in front of Rev. Wright each week for 20 years. He has exposed them to anti-white and anti-America anger and rhetoric coming from a religious leader and "spiritual advisor."

No one questioned Kerry or Gore when they were merely endorsed by black nationalists or other unsavory characters.

And if you think the media would care if McCain went to Falwell's church and had close personal ties to him, you're crazy. The way Bush's visit to Bob Jones was played in the media is instructive and there was no close, personal relationship.

This snafu hurts Sen. Obama massively. It strikes at his main purpose as a candidate. How can he "transcend race" when he has CHOSEN to put himself and his family in a church with Rev. Wright. He is getting a reputation for associating with some of the most vile people in the country. If a candidate attended KKK meetings, it would destroy their candidacy. Attending black liberation churches that preach anti-white sermons may have the same effect.
