Charles Murray: Abolish the welfare state

His solutions to the welcare 'problem' is interesting. I am figuring anyone taking the time to read this would know what problem I'm referring to, but in case that is not the case I will sum it up:

First off these welcare programs are hightenning the amount of unemployement. How is this? Well an example could be when my family applied for welcare they told us we made $50 too much. If we quit our jobs we could get everything from the government (that is needed) instead of struggling and working hard for the bare minimun. The American people are taking advantage of this, over all.

Second off they cost rediculous amount of money to keep flowing and ciculating. Something Charles Murray pointed out and even offered a solution too.

The most pressing thing that I can find though is the American people's freedom. What do I mean by that? Well let's look back at history. There are three countries that have ever had a government system like ours (people had 'freedom' and they were represented by elected officials). One of these is Rome, which we based so much off of (even names of some government tiers). Rome had a great time, but eventually died out due to fighting over power. The second country to have this government is, well, us. Now the final one is what is interesting. Russia. What happened to them? It became a communistic country. Everything was controlled by the government and the people had no voice. How could such a drastic change happen? Gradually and we are on that path.

Everytime a bill like these gets passed we are signing away some of our freedom and power as american citizens. The tenth amendment states: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. The power that should be ours is no longer going to be ours.

The path we are on right now is a dangerous one, a slippery slope. If you could imagine a large hill and a small snowball on top. When that snowball is pushed it wil come tumbling down, gathering more and more snow. Getting bigger and bigger until it is out of control. The snowball is on the move. We can stop it, we have to act NOW.

I haven't stated my point clearly yet, so let me try again. Welcare/Health programs are taking away our rights. We are slowly becoming a socialistic country. A country were the government controls everything. A country were the people dont have freedom. And right now, the people aren't noticing. They are only concerned with the little bubble around them. The long run? Never once crosses the average citezens mind. The correct solution? Stopping these programs perimently. Ignored by government officials because they know it will disrupt those little bubbles. We will be fine for 10-20 more years. Maybe even 30. The next generation is the one in trouble, but thats later so why bother? Freedom is leaving and we aren't doing a thing... Just like Charles Murray noticed these programs need to end.
