Human Events and the Washington Examiner announced they would cease publication of their respective print editions and move to online-only formats. The Washington Times is known to be circling the bowl with layoffs in January and more rumored to be on the way. (Disclosure: I was deputy editor for op-eds until leaving in December.) Breitbart's bid to become a legitimate outlet has been stymied by a seemingly institutional refusal to follow standard news practices.

Rand Paul's Filibuster Was GOP Win, Not the McCain-Graham Tantrum

Rand Paul, a Kentucky Republican, was filibustering the nomination of John Brennan as director of the CIA. At the swanky Jefferson Hotel, Sen. Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, was convening a dinner with President Barack Obama and 12 other Republican senators. These simultaneous events revealed while elephants are no closer to resolving their party-wide identity crisis, there is a way forward.

President Obama has asked Congress for a new deal. The White House says the sequester is a threat to the middle class. They were whistling a different tune less than two years ago.
