Europeans Are Asking, What's Wrong With America?

October 14, 2011 RSS Feed Print

I am traveling in Europe and enjoying visits with relatives who live in Italy. So what I am doing pounding away at my computer?

Simple, really. There is a message that I am getting loud and clear: What is wrong with our country's political system that we can't confront the economic problems facing us? The distrust here for their government is well known but they expect more of Americans with all their power and economic might.

[See a collection of political cartoons on the economy. ]

It certainly doesn't appear that there is much "American exceptionalism" being exhibited at the moment. Why can't we adopt some common sense solutions to handling our long term budget problems and provide the necessary jolt to the economy to lift all boats?

Having just read In The Garden of Beasts about 1930's Germany and Ambassador Dodd's efforts to awaken our government, I wonder whether we are once again unable to lead in confronting a growing cancer on our world. By delaying decisions and failing to accept the reality starring us in the face, are we again not living up to our greatness as a world power and as an example to others?

[Rick Newman: How Politicians Are Wrecking the World Economy]

With all the problems that confront nations across the pond tied to ours, isn't it time for Congress, especially the Republican leadership, to look beyond the next election and face the implications of their failure to act? American voters, like those here, are furious and have taken to the streets to protest Wall Street greed. It is past time to act; it is time to exhibit some old fashioned American leadership. Is the U.S. government up to the task is the question people over here are asking?

Which voice should we listen to, economic dogma, common sense, or political correctness? Economics is a tower of Babel.

Should we listen to economic dogma and have more free trade, even though common sense and experience tell us our workers and businesses can't compete with low wage global workers and we have transferred $7 trillion to China, making us impoverished debtors without jobs and China a miracle of growth?

Should we listen to economic dogma and have more stimulus, even though experience shows we have had astronomical deficits since year two of Bush coinciding with near depression?

Should we listen to political correctness and continue historic levels of immigration even though common sense tells us it increases supply of labor and reduces demand?

We are still waiting for the coming of the one-armed economist. Until then, the various sects of economics are at a Mexican standoff.

GET A BETTER MEGAPHONE DEM SHILL PFENN...

It's getting harder and harder to hear you chomp and moan directly or sideways for tax increases the further down the drain you and like-minded swirl.

Well, more like the further down the commode you all swirl.

PFenn's great claim to fame is how he chomped for tax increases right after Obama lawyer-shopped his non-war Libyan war. Now THAT'S a *****REAL***** democrat!!! War? What Libyan war? I don't see no war. Tax increases -- now that get's PFenn's freak on.

And it's getting tougher and tougher for dem shills like PFenn to recruit new members for the dem-shill human microphone to chomp for tax increases. Kind of hard to keep the human tax-increase microphone intact when new, would-be entrants see those ahead of them make the final swirl-twist-and-duck under the porcelain trap that leads to the sewer or septic tank.

HEY PFENN: Put down the plate of spaghetti in Italy and take note: Great News!!! Your democrat mess-iah is sending military advisors to Africa! Another leap-off point for you to pound for tax increases!!!

For one, who in the US aside from dem shills gives a ratzass about what Europeans think of us? Secondly, whatever US-directed B & moan coming from Europeans is a sideways projection that they've run out of other peoples' money to fund their socialistic programs -- and we're not going to go down the same route. HEY EUROPEANS: Worry more about yourselves than us!

Much to paid, professional (sic) dem-shill PFenn's chagrin the big economy jolt for the better is most definitely underway. The dem-shill message of another failure-in-the-making (Obama's 'Jobs' bilge) isn't flying. Can't even get off the ground.

Even Obama is walking back the smoke-n-mirrors hopey-changey, such as now with his cutting re-election anchor drag on Obamacare's 'CLASS' long-term-care insurance hustle, and it's clearly-recognized BS when it comes to Obamacare's supposed 'deficit reduction.'

Now that's trying to make a living between a rock and a hard place, when PFenn is pounding the dem-shill B but lead dem Obama is a walkin' the other way! PFenn should google crevice-dwelling lizards and spiders, to get tips on how possibly he might keep making the dem-shill living.
