OAB:

Are you quoting David Barton, the American Religious Historian, friend of Glenn Beck Newt Gingrich, and Governor Perry, and served as a former leader of the Texas Republican Party and author of the Website: Wallbuilders.org.? Are you referring to the man who researched primary documents in the American historical archives to locate the Founding Fathers' words on their intention to build America into a Christian Nation?

If this is the David Barton you are quoting: Why, then, did Mr. Barton, a Religious Education Major while in college, decide to admit that he "made up" those Founding Father quotations? It is now difficult for me to believe anything he says. Don't you find it is hard to trust a person who lies to you? That is my problem too. Now that David Barton has admitted he lied, I do not know when to believe him and when NOT to believe him. So far, he hasn't quite quoting.

Below are just a few sites that document David Barton's deceit:

This first web address is David Barton's own website:

I am also wondering why David Barton didn't just use the actual Proverb instead of, partly, using his own words. The original Proverb he chose is certainly more appropriate, especially, for this article. "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people." -Proverbs 14:34-

"This is not exactly enlightened prose, nor is it factually accurate."

If it isn't factually accurate, then it should be easy for you to dispel. What's wrong with Perry's statement that they make a choice to engage in sexual behavior with a person of the same gender? Are you saying that gays are not able to control their sexual impulses?

I thought you used only the best sources. One you used is not...

Are Social Conservatives aware of scientific studies on the genetic and/or congenital origins and thalamic studies of homosexuality? Is this probability of physiological factors in homosexuality even a consideration for Social Conservatives?

I am remembering that just 50 years ago, Autism was diagnosed as a failure on the mother's part. Doctors (and many "Religious Communities") diagnosed Autism as caused by "poor mothering." Because I taught Autistic children, you cannot imagine the psychiatric impact this had on the mothers of Autistic children. These mothers committed suicide too, and if not suicide, other mothers became lifetime alcoholics, and certainly died at a younger age than the "good mothers."

I knew that this "religious and medical view" of the cause of Autism' was wrong; these mothers were just as devoted to their children as other devoted mothers.

I even knew, then, about a neighborhood where every single family in that particular neighborhood grew up and had, at least, one child with Autism. Why? These "bad mothers" lived in a neighborhood that adjoined a factory that made movie film, and the chemicals from film-making drained off into that family neighborhood, and the chemical factory was found to be secretly doing this. Gosh, though, at the time, there were no regulations to stop those chemicals from draining into neighborhoods everywhere. Then the U.S. Government put a stop to draining those film-making pollutants into our air, land, and water.

Pardon me? The Right Wing now wants those pollutant regulations removed? Are you kidding me? Are you saying this is another example of too much Government interference? The Right Wing does NOT want pollutants regulated? That must be why so many corporate chiefs have property set aside for themselves and their families, far, far away from all the pollutants ravaging the rest of us.

If not a consideration, are you suggesting, then, that The Far Right Religious Conservatives believe the Earth is only 5,000-7,000 years old, and ALSO believe that Gay men and women HAPPILY lean toward members of their own sex, directly defying a society's Mores, norms, and values? How does the Religious RIght explain such a high incidence of suicide within the homosexual and transgender population? See info below:

Although Wikipedia is not the standard source for primary documentation and scientific studies, the

"References Section" at the end of this Wiki article gives peer-reviewed scientific studies on "Suicide among " lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth (LGBTQ)."

Hey Fenn . . . The fringe view is the extreme left perspective.

david of ID 6:57PM September 14, 2011

I understand why Fenn or some folks might find the comparison to alcoholism problematic but what is inaccurate about this statement of Perry's:

'And even if someone is attracted to a person of the same sex, he or she still makes a choice to engage in sexual activity with someone of the same gender."

Is Fenn saying we human beings are not in control of our sexual behavior? Surely he's not saying that gays are specially not in control of sex? Now that would be offensive to gay humans!

Obama is also opposed to gay marriage.

The state of Texas passed an ammendment to its constitution banning gay marriage in Texas. While I voted against the ban, the vote was approximately 70-30 in favor of the ban. Like most governors, Perry supports the will of the voters in his state on this issue. While I do not agree with his stance on this issue, I recognise that it would be political suicide for him not to support the ban.

What about Obamas fringe views of America and our economy ?
