PRESIDENT GEORGE BUSH – ABOVE THE LAWS OF GOD AND MAN

He was never tried by the Supreme Court for his alleged violation of Constitutional Rule of Law and he was never tried by the International Court for his alleged war crimes – or does the rule of law not apply to American presidents?

Gosh, Bill Hedges!

Sorry for my mean accusations about your insolent comments to others! As I read the comments in THIS comment section, I am appalled at the horrendous and obscene comments about this article. Your comments, Bill, positively pale in comparison to those written here, but I still feel that all have a right to say what they feel without producing downright ugly rhetoric.

We are, after all, citizens of a country who are trying to keep America respected, safe and civil. Obviously, the rules of debate were never part of the education of many of the participants on this blog. Most citizens of believe America is lessened by those citizens who cannot be civil to one another. According to P.M. Forni, a professor of Italian literature at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore: "...two-thirds of those {Americans} surveyed believe incivility is a major problem in the United States, and 90 percent feel that incivility has negative consequences on the nation."

"I don't believe in confrontation. That seems to me outside civil discourse and we all have to find way to be civil to one another." -Condolisa Rice, NPR- interview, March 4, 2009

"There is a toxic nature to Washington that thrives on food fights and thrives on controversy and thrives on people not getting along." -Matthew Dowd, Bush's pollster and chief strategist for the 2004 presidential campaign-

"Civility costs nothing and buys everything." -Lady Mary Wortley Montagu, 1689–1766-

"It's too much to expect in an academic setting that we should all agree, but it's not too much to expect discipline and unvarying civility." -John Howard, Australian statesman-

"Teaching civility is an obligation of the family." -Stephen Carter-

"All of us share this world for but a brief moment in time. The question is whether we spend that time focused on what pushes us apart or whether we commit ourselves to an effort, a sustained effort to find common ground, to focus on the future we seek for our children and to respect the dignity of all human beings." -Barack Obama- June 4, 2009

camp of IL :

For all of YOUR ranting and raving about living under a "dictatorship," you know very well that you do not. In a dictatorship, the head of a country would have you executed for your hateful speech about him. You know very well that you are free to say what you like about the President of the United States, so your false bravado about the President and his wife is fallacious and unimpressive.

Bill Hedges:

Michael T. Griffith (http://www.mtgriffith.com) often and unashamedly states in his writings that he is offering his OPINION. You cannot actually prove facts unless you offer primary resources. Primary sources, based on solid evidence and research, are defined in the following definitions and descriptions:

http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-the-difference-between-fact-and-opinion.htm

Most comments made on US News and World report are OPINIONS by commenters, who are attempting to support their/our own thoughts on a topic, but this does NOT make them facts. If the actual article-writers/bloggers are stating THEIR opinions in an article, and the commenters are offering THEIR opinions on the article-writers'/bloggers’ opinions, why do YOU imagine we are all to believe that you, Mr. Hedges, have the superior advantage in knowing the FACTS? To mock another commenter because you write or cite an opinion and call it "the facts" does not make your brand of "THE FACTS" solid evidence that you are unfailingly correct.
