Phil of OR, why would you think the author was on some type of entitlement? She's a paid journalist.

You are behind in your information. Or has being a liberal blinded your concept to truth ???

In todays news, a hidden gem in the Obamacare bill will add another 450 billion to its cost over 10 years:

One of the many gems that Pelosi wanted us to see only after the bill was passed.

And Steihm is worried about the new Repubs? Jamie, you needed to have worried about the Dems you voted for over the years!

She is obviously intolerant, prejudiced and indignent. Slanderous too, except you can hide behind the first amendment.

Ms. Stiehm, you sound like you don't want to be a part of modern America if it allows 87 cretins to be elected to congress. Are you afraid that your social security disability payments or one of your other entitlements will be interupted?

Get a job, because unless part of your job description is demogogery, you aren't too good at this one.

After considering that the bureaucratic old guard created our burgeoning, systemic government failure and led us to our current sorry state of affairs then I'd say tunnel vision malcontents is a marked improvement over the status quo. Isn't that the hope and change you voted for?

david of ID 4:16PM June 21, 2011

a better title for miss. stiehm's article would have been the new republican freshman ARE a disaster.they seem,by and large,to be a collection of inexperienced tunnel vision malcontents ,who have little or no concept as to the working's of government.so far all that they;ve done is to repeat the same old ,tired republican bromides.

wrote : "White male Christian faces". Apparently racism, misandrist, and religious intolerance are alive and well in the Democrat party.

I wonder what Steihm would have said had Roff written an article where he described some in congress as black women athiest faces?!

Like it or not, Steihm, these are those who ran for popular election and "WE" voted for them. They were elected to do the people's bidding. They were not elected to champion the wish list of nefarious, special interest.

With regard to the debt ceiling. Raising the debt ceiling is band-aide fix to a chronic problem. We raise the debt ceiling and then what? We still have our debt. We haven't solved that problem. We don't have solution to fix it because Dems are loathe to address their spending problem. Of all the possible choices, the choice to raise the ceiling is worst and most irresponsible choice we could make.

david of ID 12:58PM June 21, 2011

You could easily write this article in terms of the disaster the Democrats will cause by out of control spending. The federal Government borrows 40 cents of every dollar spent. This is not sustainable. Interest on the national debt could be the single largest federal expenditure in ten years. The 87 new Rebublican house members were elected by promising to rein in out of control spending. That is what they are trying to do.

Everyone from both parties knows the debt ceiling will have to be raised. They also know that spending must be cut and some taxes raised. The Democrats want smaller spending cut and more tax increases while the Rebuplicans prefer the reverse. It is Obama's job to work out a compromise. So far, he has failed to demonstrate the leadership necessary to get the job done.

@mike

Calling individuals ignorant or uneducated because they do not agree with you is the type of behavior that discourages any compromises necessary to solve problems. Try being part of the solution rather than being part of the problem nd tell us what you would do to fix things..

Bob of TX 11:40AM June 21, 2011

Or, more likely and hopefully, they will finally force the Left to help reform entitlements and restore some fiscal sanity to the Federal budget instead of thinking that they can run the debt even higher every year.

I hope for sanity.

junior of DC 10:45AM June 21, 2011

We will! The TEA Party won't be going anywhere. Decades and decades of thinking we could trust elected officials is over. We have been scammed and brought to the edge of financial collapse. WE THE PEOPLE will once again be in charge of this country.
