So, the Gays in the Military Issue is definitely not Amnesty John McCain only

Flip Flop,in case some of you may have forgot the Massive Flip Flop of Senator

Amnesty John McCain did after McCain Co-Sponsored the Ill Fated (Late) Teddy

Kennedy and John McCain Illegal Alien Amnesty Bill in Congress and that it was

also done with George W Bush silent blessing, that later on Amnesty John McCain

did yet another famous McCain Flip Flop over, when in 2010 Election Year panic

Amnesty John McCain claimed to have had a Sudden Epiphany add did a Flip Flop John Kerry. As all of a sudden all of us Arizona Voters were buried in tv

commericals depicting Amnesty John McCain as The Great Protector Of America

Against Illegal Alien Invading the USA from Mexico and became "Mr Build The Danged Fence." And,so how can anyone still take senile old Flip FLip King of

the RINOS Amnesty John McCain seriously or trust him about anything? This is

one Arizona Independent Voter who sure doesnot trust McCain.

Ms. Stiehm,

You should stick to writing about things you know. Not the romantic ideas you have about gays in the military.

Or possibly you sent years in the military -- but I suspect the closest you ever came to the military is standing beside John Kerry when he tossed his medals.

So -- the long and short of it it, leave military policy to military leaders.

My 28 years in the military tell me you don't know beans from bacon about military effectiveness.

Think before pen.

Thanks, everyone, for your comments, which I read by the end of the day. I appreciate a civil dialogue even from opposite points on the spectrum. As one reader points out, there may not be 60 senators to shut down a filibuster - but let's have one anyway and see whose side senators are on. Another writes from Idaho, and seems to know much I know about gays in the military - by the usual stereotypes - however, I know more than he knows I know. Strictly speaking, the new commandant/Marine general should not be speaking out against the C-in-C policy in the chain of command. To Bill Hedges, hope you won't write off President Obama completely just yet - at least call him Barack!

Your liberal numbskull comments aside let's flip the question to you, "Who cares what you think?" I mean, really, what have you done besides plied us with weak emotional rhetoric. At least the good General has spent an entire life devoted to the service of our country. He has lead men into combat. He has the responsibility to prosecute our wars, win victory, protect and ensure our freedoms, all while being a responsibile steward of the nations treasure.

This is not some social experiment. The military is not a sorority/fraternity. The military does not eat crumpets and play parlor games. Their business is death and destruction. Men and women put their lives on the line every day.

What entitles a snobby, liberal gadfly like you to think you KNOW something or anything about the issue? All you have is a sympathetic ear to the plaintive bleating from the minority left fringe. In response to your question of "Who the heck asked him to tell us that?" I pose a rhetorical question. "Why not ask him?" At least he knows more about war and fighting that you ever will.

So what if McCain fillibusters?

Are there 60 Senators willing to vote to shut it down and have the vote? Take a look at the Democrats up for re-election in 2012 and the states they are from - Virginia, Florida, Missouri just to name a few - and figure it out.

Have but a moment to respond. Will come back.

Off duty fighting personal can wear gold chains. You can not ague with your superor. You are denied freedom of speech, with few exceptions. A unlawfull order comes to mind.

If this was a Constitutional issue it would have been settled long ago.

I never implied a Marine was afraid of a gay, etc.

Is sad you do not know the difference. Seach your soul. Your laugh seem troubling.

Bill Hedges of MO 3:44PM November 16, 2010

Bill, we are constantly told that the troops are fighting for our freedoms. Even as I work for the military, I cannot see denying freedoms being commensurate with fighting for them. DADT is an abomination to the US Constitution, it summarily denies constitutional rights under the guise of unit cohesion. The raw results of the study, one that was demanded by McCain and other conservatives, shows that unit cohesion and morale would not suffer with the granting of gays/lesbians/bisexual constitutional rights.

It is a bit of a laugh to hear that the Marines are afraid of gays/lesbians/bisexual. Laugh in the sad sort of way!

A General in Afghanistan is having disagreement with their President. Is job of General to look out for his units. Along with best performance and results. I would not give two hoots for leaders that don’t.

A poll in politics is important. NOT in this issue. I refer you back to my previous paragraph. Majority counts in politics for majority rules. Military duties is killing. Depending on each other. Unity. Not political correction. DADT fits that regime.

After the survey they asked for opinions from the brass. You left that out.

“Readiness”, as I understand it, is training, equipment. Set to go into battle. Not this issue.

Jamie, you must face the reality of barry. Take the liberal shades off and look at him under sun light.

1. Against same sex marriage in California vote.

2. No Presidential order.

3. GITMO open.

4. Military trial at GITMO.

5. Trial of terrorist to occur in New York postponed until after Presidential election.

6. Barry continued no court order wire tapes, even continued Bush’s court battle. Courts ruled legal.

My point is barry has done what to push liberal’s causes. Yes behind closed doors, unread, he got obamacare barely passed with supermajority of Democrats. With passage, he lost his COOL over this and other agenda with the people. I left my 7. For last. Likely Bush tax cuts will be extended for ALL.

Will be a hard freeze come January. Weakened barry can’t hardly help himself, as though he helped your cause when he was STRONG.

I admire your grit, not giving much chance of winning…
