Clinton Saved Blanche Lincoln--Why Didn't Gore Let Him Do the Same?

Back in 2000 when Clinton was still reaking from the stench of his impeachment and shameful legacy of adultery, poor Al Gore was wise not to have Clinton campaign on his behalf in a NATIONAL election. Al Gore was also dogged by Clinton's betrayal of his party's faithful in such short-sighted and irresponsible legislation as "Don't Ask, Don't Tell," "The Defense of Marriage Act," "NAFTA," and granting China "Most Favored Nation Trade Status," among other misdeeds.

The passage of time has weakened the public's memories of the many failures of Clinton and his administration. He has become "statesman-like" if not an actual, though still deeply flawed, statesman. And in his home state of Arkansas, he still carries more weight than he does on the national stage. Clinton was able to help Lincoln in that limited area, but he couldn't help Gore if he had wanted to and we all know how he failed to help his sometime sex partner, Hillary, in the Democratic presidential primary elections.

All things considered this is yet another badly written and ill-conceived piece of filler.

Get over it, it was Al Gores fault, can't you people on the left ever accept any responsabiltiy for anything ?

In my opinion, let Clinton and Obama go out all they want, their track record isn't very good, 1 out of 5-6, keep going, Nov. is comming.

One more question, if Obamacare and his agenda is so dam- popular why did it take the deals it took to pass it, and why aren't the democrats running this year on all his GREAT plans, why are they running away from his agenda ?

Are the dems lying, saying whatever it takes to get elected, then fall into step after elected, history says yes.

One can see why this has only two post. To borrow your own borrowed phrase, "frankly, nobody gives a damn."

You assumed that Gore would have won just because Lincoln did. That is not necessarily true. Arkansas may not have been able to stomach the arrogant Al Gore any more that NC.

And, Lincoln has only won the primary. Can Bill pull her across the finish line? We will see.

And your comment, "the only person on the scene more sanctimonious than Gore was his running mate, Joe Lieberman" reveals an ugly, leftist contempt for those who dare to support some morality in this country. Once again I feel like I have wasted my time with USNEWS.

I'll give you that Gore's pride helped him lose, however, I think we might still have gone to Iraq, or worse, Iran and other nations if he was president.

Hindsight is 20/20, but at that time, who knows what Gore and Lieberman would do. Perhaps it is blessing that we had George Bush Jr. as president.

The answer to your question is very simple: Gore's campaign manager Donna Brazile and other advisers like Bob Shrum told him to stay far away from Clinton. You see, the conventional wisdom among the MSM media at the time was that Clinton was toxic despite his approval ratings being in the 60s and Gore took the bad advice. He should have known better considering how a good part of the MSM is suffering from CDS, but he still took their bad advice. As a result, we got eight years of disaster with the Bush regime. When is the MSM going to take responsibility for the part they play in electing Bush in 2000?
