A gossip website Monday posted additional explicit pictures and messages allegedly sent by former New York congressman Anthony Weiner to a woman that was not his wife. Weiner, who has publicly apologized for his initial indiscretions that caused his resignation from Congress, is currently running for mayor of New York City.

The gossip site alleges that the messages and photos it has published occurred after the first incident in 2011 during which Weiner sent explicit photos and messages via Twitter. The 22-year-old woman who leaked the most recent photos said she was in a relationship with the former congressman from July until November 2012, and the two used Facebook to communicate.

Weiner's campaign released a statement Tuesday, but did not clarify whether or not these interactions took place after the others:

I said that other texts and photos were likely to come out, and today they have. As I have said in the past, these things that I did were wrong and hurtful to my wife and caused us to go through challenges in our marriage that extended past my resignation from Congress.

While some things that have been posted today are true and some are not, there is no question that what I did was wrong. This behavior is behind me. I've apologized to Huma and am grateful that she has worked through these issues with me and for her forgiveness. I want to again say that I am very sorry to anyone who was on the receiving end of these messages and the disruption that this has caused. As my wife and I have said, we are focused on moving forward.

Weiner entered the mayoral race in May, and has since become a frontrunner. Some say the recent revelations won't make any difference in his chances in the race this fall:

Will voters care? If the screenshots turn out to be from 2011, probably not. If, however, the screenshots are recent, then … probably not. They're New Yorkers, right? They have a bottomless appetite for crap in their elected officials.
