Anti-gay activists can make whatever arguments they'd like. It's a free country. But those claims won't change reality. When we talk about gay parents being "open" we're talking about my moms attending my Eagle Scout Court of Honor. We're talking about gay Eagle Scouts who spent more than a decade in the program going on to become scoutmasters. We're talking about making sure we never again throw out a Scout because of who he happens to love.
A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. The sum total of these values, to this Eagle Scout, seems to be tantamount to the Golden Rule – that we will treat people the way that we want to be treated. And that’s what this is all about.
