The Catholic Church's Treatment of Nuns Is Polarizing and Alienating

Never have I come across a bigger pile of nonsense than this ... including your story about your apostate priest who thought the church was wrong on the matter of women's ordination.

One only needs to look at the likes of Nancy Pelosi to see what a church dominated by women might look like.

Instead of lamenting all of the things that are "wrong" with the Catholic Church, why not spend your time studying the Catechism and praying, instead?

You might be very surprised at the results.

The same thing would have helped both your 5th graders and that priest, too ... since none of you seem to have a clue as to what the Church ... or its purpose ... actually is.

Finally ... the photograph used to illustrate this piece is about as far from the truth as the content ... since the Vatican is dealing with the LCWR "sisters" ... who do not typically live in cloisters ... nor do they wear habits. They do not even incorporate the word "Catholic" into the name of their organization.

They do however, regularly promote radical feminism, abortion, and homosexual abominations ... in opposition to long established, authentic Catholic teachings ... and that is the reason for the present conflict.

My first thought was also of the author's initial sentence, "I'm not a Catholic theologian or expert or activist of any kind", yet, Mary Kate blabs on and on about a subject vague to her.

....but then, I've noticed most bloggers at USN & WR are quite vague on their subjects!

"Little wonder that the Catholic Church has been losing members, for many years"

Then Bruce, I wonder who all those people I see in the several I attend in my area every Sunday are that make it an SRO crowd? Or maybe because a lot of Catholic growth today is Hispanic you don't consider them real people?

...and YOU do?

This article starts: "I'm not a Catholic theologian or expert or activist of any kind."

Your right. You have no idea of what you speak.

Joe of NM -

Obviously, you have no idea what you're writing about. Let's take your "points" one by one.

1. The Catholic Church has caused more mayhem and destruction of societies throughout it's Reign than any other Organization.

Absolutely untrue. Mao and Stalin - Communists - murdered tens of millions....each. And, there have been many others. Heck, the Aztecs sacrificed and ate thousands of their own people (and other tribes) every year.

The Church, though founded by God, is made up of men - some very good, others bad. The Church survives despite of the bad popes and priests- not because of them.

And Joe, if it weren't for the Church you and the rest of Western Civilization would not exist. The Church fought the Muslim aggressors for a thousand years. They were unable to save the Christian states in the Middle East and Asia Minor from the bloody scimitar. But the blood of tens of thousands of Catholic Knights and men at arms finally drove the Muslim armies from Europe. Nothing in history has ever been lost so well as Rhodes or won as well as Malta. Just Google, "Muslims turned back at the gates of Vienna" to see how close Europe came to falling to Islam.

By the way Joe, Islam has always killed or enslaved those who do not convert. Hundreds of Christians are still being killed every month in Africa and the Middle .

So you see Joe, we are all here today because of the sacrifice of the Church and the grace of God.

You're blather on:

2. The Nazi Party was nothing more than the Right Wing of the Catholic Church.

Oh really? Do you know how many priests and nuns were murdered by the Nazis? Hundreds. Do you know how many Jews were hidden in Catholic churches, monasteries and even inside the walls of the Vatican? Thousands.

As a matter of history Joe, many of the priests and nuns who gave sanctuary to the Jews were caught and killed by the Germans.

3. "There is no man alive who knows what God's will truly is."

The Catholic Church, founded by St. Peter, by the command of Christ, canonized the books of the New Testament. There you will find the words of Jesus speaking the words of God's will. And Joe, you will find no fault in His words.

4. "Man only makes it up as he goes along in order to control the masses."

Jesus did not want to "control the masses" - He wanted to save their eternal soul and died on the cross. Saving souls is the work of the His Church to which Jesus gave, "the keys to the Kingdom of Heaven". The Church has struggled, and its religious and lay members have often failed - But the mystical body of the Church will always survive. Christ gives us that promise, "...the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." And, "I will be with always - even unto the end of the world."

If I were you Joe, I'd educate myself and then take Jesus up on his promise. As always, I recommend "Triumph", by Crocker. The 2000 year story of Western Civilization and the Church are one in the same.

To Joe-

Although I would agree is a complex historical political situation in Germany at that time; you should prove your assertion, what is your source? You should be careful in what you say or hear. Please refer to Vatican.va. Print out "Mit brennender sorge" in the English translation (It came out in 1937). Is that early enough for the Catholic Church to have been condemning Nazism? Even when you look at the voting of 1932 (check Wikipedia maps), you'll see that the catholic vote was overwhelming against the Nazis in 1932.

foolishness. This article is full of someone who thinks that the Christian faith should wrap around their own Ideology. Your family Nuns might be in good standing with the Catholic Church but there are teachings out there by the LCWR that are completely incompatible with the Holy Bible and the traditions that we've been taught throughout the ages. Here's an idea. Do a little un-biased research and understand WHY the Bishops are doing what they're doing. It's dissenters like yourself who are leading others down a dark rabbit hole that leads to something far from Christian.

The Catholic Church has caused more mayhem and destruction of societies throughout it's Reign than any other Organization. The Nazi Party was nothing more than the Right Wing of the Catholic Church. It continues to destroy families and Governments at it's Whim. It should be abolished for the sake of peace on this planet. There is no man alive who knows what God's will truly is. Man only makes it up as he goes along in order to control the masses. Enough of this charade already!

JOE of NM 3:48PM May 11, 2012

Me, I'm with the Nuns. They raised me, taught me, cared for me and never DIDDLED me!!!!!
