Is Obama Wrongly Politicizing Osama Bin Laden's Death?

Taking out Bin Laden was not a slam dunk decision. Gates was against it. Not informing Pakistan of our incursion had some risk too. Romney made clear he would not have gone in without a heads up (which would have jeopardized the mission)

Obama played Libya about as perfect as one could get.

Democrats won't shy away from discussing economics. Republican policies had us losing 700,000 jobs a month when Obama took office and now we are routinely gaining over 100,000 a month despite GOP efforts to sabotage the economy because their number one goal is to defeat Obama.

The Republican Party has a tough job. Every election cycle they must convince voters making the rich richer and the working class poorer is good for the economy when that both defies logic and has been proven to be untrue empirically. But they have had a lot of practice.

Obama is dead wrong to politicize Bin Laden's death.

He demonstrates daily why he is not qualified to be President. He does nothing for the country and everything is for a political reason. He is just a whore politician.

Our Obama chameleon is riding his hobby horse faster and faster during this election season.

He'd (Obama) have been a fool to reject the advice of the career Military and Intelligence professionals, and not O.K. the Seal's mission.

Obama is actually a dangerously Empty Suit in an appallingly dangerous elected position as our Commander in Chief with literally no experience qualifying him to be in any national leadership position.

Look if there was any shred of something else to brag about Obama would exploit it, but there is NOTHING ELSE. He can't talk about the economy, his foreign policy accomplishments, the debt the only major legislation he signed 72% of the country hates!!!

Romney had decided he needed to criticize Obama's statement that he would send personnel into Pakistan without permission if necessary to bring Bin Laden to justice. Now Romney has to live with that criticism. Most people feel that if we had provided Pakistan advance notice, Navy Seal Team 6 would have raided an empty house. People should be able to judge whether withholding notice to Pakistan was a good idea. Romney had been quite adamant in insisting that was reckless. I believe Romney was wrong and Obama was right, but everyone has the right to pass their own judgment.

McCain is hilarious. In 2008 he campaigned on the fact that he would catch Bin Laden because he "knew how to do it"- another secret plan.

Obama was straightforward on what he intended to do and then did it. He made Bin Laden a priority; Romney made it clear he would not. That is a difference people can judge.

1. I give all the credit to our intelligent agencies. Bush gave the ok. WAS THE LEADS gathered through water-boarding that helped cause bin-dead.

2. Reason for ending war WAS Iraq wanted us out. To be possible more specific, our troupes must not be accountable for certain actions during war or we are OUT OF THERE. Bush made that so. Protecting our men & women.

bum-bum’s RULES OF ENGAGEMENT were not in keeping with WINNING A WAR.

3. Am not going to expand our discussion into “lousy commander-in-chief. ”I’m doing WELL now. Why head another direction. Discussion will NOT go >>> INTO EARLY MORNING <<<...

If Mr. Obama was any kind of a leader, he would be giving all the Honors to the Navy Seals, and the many others that assisted with the Mission.

He gave an Order with a catch, "get Bin Laden"

if anything changes it's up to the General.

That was his out, if it failed.

He knew he could not blame Bush, so he had to blame someone if it went south.

Vincent Lawrence of MN 9:15PM May 01, 2012

Friend Hedges, as I understand it, we had no clue where Osama was when Obama took office, so, don't think waterboarding or Bush helped find him. Give most of the credit to the CIA.

Pelosi is a true liberal and not one of my favs. How she and Reid and McConnell ever became the leaders of the their parties is beyond me. I don't much care for the leadership of Congress, on both sides of the aisle.

V.P. was correct is saying Obama administration ended the war in Iraq. Whether the war was won remains to be seen. A lot of people were against the surge (I was not one of them), but it takes a real leader to admit they are wrong and, fortunately, Obama let the surge continue. There are a lot of liberals that would just have cut and run. Obama didn't. He said he would help bring a responsible end to the war and he did. A war, I might add, that continued unnecessarily long because Bush was a lousy commander-in-chief. Mission Accomplished indeed. That whole administration did not have a clue what to do after the first month of the war and we all suffered for it. Obama learned that surges can work, that's why he did it in Afghanistan much to the consternation of his base.

I give bum-bum credit for saying GO AHEAD and go get bin-dead. Reaching that point goes to Bush, water-boarding, and our intelligence sources. Some of which bum-bum and liberals disliked. Nancy Pelosi claims SHE NEVER WAS BRIEF on water boarding. The others made no such claims as I recall.

Part of problem is I heard V.P. say THEY WON war in Iraq. Senator bum-bum was against war there. He was against the surge as Senator. As President he used surge following in Bush’s footsteps...

When I see people here unable to give Obama credit for a risky gutsy move, I think about what they would have said if the mission had failed. There's no pleasing these right-wing nuts. This was a commander-in-chief decision and it worked out. If it had been a failure all these people would have blamed Obama, not the Seals. So what if he's blowing his own horn? You think "Mission Accomplished" George Bush (or any other politician) would have done any different? As an incumbent you run on your record. This is part of his record. Any grousing from the other side of the aisle is just sour grapes.
