Having been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for almost 50yrs I can honestly say that this Church does as much as any other in promoting love and service to our fellow man. If ever a natural disaster hits your area you can count on your Mormon neighbors to be there to help you in any way they can, It's what we do, and it's who we are!

I believe we need to look for the good in all groups and religions. As a member of the church my heart has been changed by the teachings of the church. I know they make me a better person, a better husband, and more caring and kind. I hope all people no matter what they believe can find that peace that comes from doing what is right and living the Golden Rule.

Can Christians vote for Mitt Romney? Answer is Yes!

http://www.eyedrd.org/2012/03/a-b-lowther-can-christians-vote-for-mitt-romney-answer-is-yes.html

According to A.B. Lowther is a member of the Alabama Republican Party Executive, most of our great presidents are officially non-Christians, but only deists. I believe personal character and moral character matter more than the professed faiths that some put on their sleeves and have not lived their lives according to their so-called deep convictions. I do not want to interject into a debate on theology of Christianity because I am not qualified at all. But, as a non-Christian, I see Mormons accept Christ as their savior, isn’t it the bottom line of Christianity? I excuse myself for my ignorance!

America was founded on the principles of religious freedom and the belief of its special relationship with God, let’s respect each other’s beliefs and choose a real leader with experience, hard-work, a family man, loving father, a man of faith with large contributions to charity, a successful business man. I admire that Mitt Romney is one of a few who succeeded to create a wealth of $ 200-250 million in a period of 25 years in business. This is an achievement that Americans should strive for. He may have had benefited the privileges of a wealth-off family, but he did not use his parents’ money to succeed in his business career. All the credits of success go to him and his wife Ann.

The Bible defines "Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world." (James 1:27)

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are taught to, and most do their best to, live by James' teachings. It appears to me that Mitt Romney believes in what the Church teaches and, like other members of the Church, trys to be the best example of Christian living he can be. None of us ever get that down perfectly in this life.

I believe anyone who is open, fair, and objective will look for the good in others' beliefs and praise that which is worthy of praise. Mitt Romney's presidency, should that be the result of the 2012 election, may help increase general awareness of the Church. Acceptance, however, is likely to be independent of who resides in the White House.

If you believe in the Bible, then you can't knock Mormonism. Every controversial doctrine Mormons believe in is found in the Bible.....doctrines such as baptism for the dead(1 Corinthians 15:40, John 3:5), the three kingdoms(1 Corinthians 15:40-45,), Non-Trinity(John 20:17, John 14:28, amoung the many scriptures), the Spirit World(1Peter 18-20, and 1 Peter 4:6) and man my become like God(Psalms 86:2, Deuteronomy 14:1, John 10:33-34, Romans 8:14,16,17, Acts 17:28-29). There are many more scriptures in the Bible just like these.

Also, many Early Church Fathers in the 1st and 2nd centuries after Christ believed in the same doctrine....it is called the doctrin of "Theosis."

As a "Mormon", I am always dubious when a Mormon author tries to write a book explaining "Mormonism" to the general public. Those who are not Mormon tend to ignore the book on the ground that the author is Mormon and, therefore, prejudiced. Those of us who are Mormon find that the author seems to feel that in order to be objective he or she must search out and highlight any "warts" in order to be considered objective.

I think being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (a Mormon), and actually striving to live its teachings, makes a person a better citizen of this country - contribute regularly to charity, live like Jesus Christ would - be kind, thoughtful, respectful, serve others, etc., be involved in the community (including politics), that families come first, etc., etc., etc. I think people think our faith is a lot different than others than it actually is, which is why this book is important!

Mormons’ theology is based on New Testament Christianity, not Fourth Century Creeds. For example, the Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) views on Baptism, Lay Ministry, the Trinity, Theosis, Grace vs. Works, the Divinity of Jesus Christ comport more closely with Early Christianity than any other denomination. And Mormons’ teenagers have been judged to “top the charts” in Christian Characteristics by a UNC-Chapel Hill study. Read about it here:

http://MormonsAreChristian.blogspot.com

According to a 2012 Pew Forum poll of members of the Church of Jesus Christ (LDS) 98 percent said they believe in the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, and 97 percent say their church is a Christian religion. Mormons have a better understanding of Christianity than any other denomination, according to a 2010 Pew Forum poll:

http://www.pewforum.org/Other-Beliefs-and-Practices/U-S-Religious-Knowledge-Survey.aspx

11 of the signers of the Declaration of Independence (including several presidents) were non-Trinitarian Christians. Those who now insist on their narrow Trinitarian and salvation-only- by-grace definition of Christianity for candidates for public office are doing our Republic an injustice.

It appears that the book will do a lot of good for those who really want to know the truth about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints (Mormons). Those who express uninformed opinions will continue to criticize.

The teachings and practices of the LDS Church are basic, beautiful and enlightening. I have been a member for many years, and I love every aspect of the Church.
