Is Newt Gingrich Right to Bash Media over 'Open Marriage' Claim?

Newt Gingrich attacks CNN debate moderator John King for asking about Marianne Gingrich's infidelity accusations

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich fumed during Thursday's CNN debate when asked about his alleged request to have an "open marriage" with second wife Marianne Gingrich.

I think the destructive, vicious, negative nature of much of the news media makes it harder to govern this country, harder to attract decent people to run for public office. And I am appalled that you would begin a presidential debate on a topic like that.

The accusation came to the surface only hours before the debate, when ABC News posted a teaser of their Nightline interview with the candidate's ex-wife on their website. Her claim that Gingrich wanted to share himself with her and his mistress Callista (now his wife) sent shock waves through the Republican race, threatening Gingrich's chances of making a comeback in Saturday's South Carolina primary. Critics, like TJS's Brad Bannon, are quick to point out that while having an affair with Callista, then a congressional staffer, Gingrich was attacking President Bill Clinton for his affair with his intern Monica Lewinsky. Yet many Gingrich supporters are sticking behind the former speaker as Gingrich, who has admitted to infidelity, denies that he ever asked Marianne to engage in an "open marriage." At the debate, he drew two standing ovations as he turned the attack back on the media, "I am frankly astounded that CNN would take trash like that and use it to open a presidential debate."

Karen -

Besides some crazy thinking makes you ask

Where was the digging on Obama's background, his questionable birth, his several passports, his unexposed grades from schools and so much more. Why does the media a huge deal of certain (conservative) politicians and ignore liberal faux pas.?? Reporters should REPORT things, not work hard to sway opinions by expressing their own opinions. As viewers and readers, we shouldn't have a clue as to where a "reporter" stands on an issue.

Listen slowly and you will learn: THERE WAS NOTHING THERE TOO INVESTIGATE!. THE PRESIDENT was vetted by the NSA, CIA, FBI and others. No does your feeble little brain tell you there's a Manchurian conspiracy going on here? If so, take off the foil hat and ask yourself this: Would the conservatives and Republicans who were running against Obama try to find dirt on him before the election? Yes they would. No, they didn't find anything either! Ok, now you can safely discard the tin foil hat and join the rest of the "sane" people!

Go like a bunny, Newt. I love our open marriage and some of my wife's lovers are my friends too. She is very particular about my lovers and helps me keep them in line. She and I have sex twice a week and twice a week with our others. It works out really well and I recommend you try it, but do always use condoms.

By the way, have you noticed that all babies are atheists?
